Designers John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin Leap Beyond the Residential with an Expressive, Tour de Force Villa
Set in an almond grove on the southern part of the island, Mallorca Villa was designed by John Pawson and Claudio Silvestrin, the duo responsible for designing leading retail locations for Calvin Klein and Giorgio Armani. With stunning views of the sea and the mountains, it is a highly expressive and unusual structure and a daring leap into what a residential space can mean.
Grand in scale and humble in tone, the home is reminiscent of an art installation, and its clean sharp delineated lines of vertical and geometric shapes evoke a modern take on antiquity. Equal parts mid-century modern and ancient adobe castle, the striking minimalist emphasis in and out and use of raw, natural materials creates a harmonious palette with the landscape.
With over 6,000 square feet, this spacious home features five bedrooms with one master, and sleeps a total of 11 guests. Each is completely unadorned and refreshing in its simplicity, while still remaining luxurious.
The fully-equipped, newly upgraded kitchen has only Gaggenau and Miele appliances, including a Gaggenau wine cooler fridge. The adjoining dining area is large enough to serve up to 10 guests and is adjacent to the expansive pool terrace and indoor courtyard for great open-air living. There is a rooftop terrace and two additional wrap-around terraces for lounging, as well as a hammock under the shade of the trees.
Along with the 30-meter infinity pool, there is an additional pool underneath with a waterfall that has a walled area for children. The smaller of the two saltwater pools has a Jacuzzi and can be heated, which is great for winter stays. There is also a clay tennis court, and 30 acres of expansive gardens give the property complete, secluded privacy. Daily housekeeping, breakfast service and chef service can be booked in addition at extra charge.
With an unusual economy of design, this villa is nevertheless a vivid and stylish statement and is a peaceful and luxurious retreat. In 2022, it was chosen as one of the 10 best villas in Mallorca by Condé Nast Traveler, a well-deserved recognition.

The house is situated near the village of Santanyi in the southeast of the island of Mallorca, within easy reach of Palma de Mallorca airport. It is also five minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, S'Amarador, which is located in the natural Parc of Mondragó.
