A 17th-Century Perigord Farmhouse Pairs Rural Life with Modern Sensibilities

Showcasing the ancient beauty of rural France and infusing chic contemporary ideas that celebrate both, this impeccable and idiosyncratic reinterpretation of eras and styles gets it just right. We love the vintage details and the fun and stylish way each space has been adapted for modern living.

Try the amazing locally sourced eats in the restaurant, check out the art exhibitions and studio and peruse the design shop for some inspired furnishings and objets. Read more about this property in our Stories section here.

Set within the stunning countryside of the Aquitaine region, this restored 17th-century farmhouse and medieval tower have been completely re-imagined with a deep appreciation for authentic rural life and chic urban sensibilities. Discovered and restored by a Dutch family, the buildings have retained their original rustic features and structural characteristics and have been seamlessly restored with modern materials and finishes keeping the best of old and new.

Expanding the interiors into raw loft-like spaces, the rugged stone and rustic wood beams have been paired with industrial steel, concrete and glass. Mingling contemporary, vintage and rustic decor and furnishings, it's a charming mix of warm earthy accents and soothing neutrals that create a relaxing and enchanting environment. Many of the items were reclaimed or sourced locally and there's much more to discover at the in house design shop.

Divided between the two buildings, there are six independent fully equipped en-suite apartments and an authentic ‘Pigeonnier,’ each equipped with private kitchens, mezzanines and room for between four and five guests. Adapting the old barn features into fun and imaginative sleeping quarters, each of the apartments are individually designed with unique layouts and fun options for adults and kids alike.

The on-site restaurant is housed in a glass and steel veranda, serving table d'hotes of delicious fresh local fare and wines in a lovely garden setting. The pool sits at the perfect vantage point to enjoy the picturesque countryside and the property features lovely little hidden gardens behind the farmhouse surrounded by nature.

    ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Breakfast served daily, with room service on request and optional catering services from the restaurant. Wifi throughout, TV and audio systems, housekeeping and laundry facilities. Optional massage services available.

    AROUND

Situated in the south western region of Auqitaine, the Lot-et-Garonne district is the rural France you always hoped existed—medieval villages and farms, sunflower fields and fruit orchards among gently rolling countryside. Just an hour north, the famous Dordogne area lies between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees. With its stunning prehistoric sites and caves of Lascaux and the Vézère Valley, to the picturesque fortified villages and chateaux, it's not to be missed. The area is divided between the nearby vineyards (Bergerac, Péchamant, Monbazillac), deep forested regions and limestone hills around the capital of Perigeaux and has been added as a reserve to the UNESCO program of Man and Biosphere. Closer to home are the medieval village of Villeréal with its colorful farmers market and the nearby bastide towns of Monflanquin and Monpazier, and the majestic Château de Biron.
