We always like the contrast of a modern space that incorporates earthy elements, and this vacation home rental in Uruguay’s Punta del Este region, does it with a relaxing sense of place and savoir vivre. Designed by Argentinian architect Diego Montero, the slab and wood construction is softened by colorful textiles and North African inspired design influences as well as a unique collection of furnishings and modern art.
Situated along the Atlantic Coast just north of Punta del Este, this vacation home rental in Uruguay is within a five minute walk to the beach. Completed in 2011 by Argentinean born and Punte del Este based architect Diego Montero, the house was placed in an elevated position affording beautiful ocean views as well as a sense of privacy.
Composed of massive concrete slabs, wood and glass, Montero’s style pairs a Scandinavian inspired modernism with a characteristic sense of place, tempered by the warmth and earthy influences of natural materials and colorful interior design by Susana Penzkofer-Fontanilla.
The first floor comprises a large open kitchen with a communal living and dining room organized around the distinctive fireplace, as well as a second living area that opens out to the poolside terrace and sun deck. The upper floor includes an en suite master bedroom and two double bedrooms that share a bathroom. All bedrooms face the ocean with great sea views and are connected to an upper terrace. The basement has independent access and contains an en suite staff bedroom.
The house is decorated with furnishings and objet d’Art collected from Europe and several local artists.
Aside from the ocean view pool terrace, there is a shady area with a BBQ and fire pit behind the house designed for enjoying relaxing open air dining.
Wifi throughout with security system and cable TV. Climate control throughout. Kitchen and bath essentials, laundry facilities.
Just a five minute walk to the beach and minutes from Manantiales and La Barra, the quiet residential beach town of El Chorro sits across the arroyo from it’s glamorous and boisterous neighbor Punta del Este and just twenty minutes south of the chic international town of José Ignacio which has one of the best beach scenes along with plenty of wild habitat to enjoy. Located along the southern Atlantic coast just a short drive from the capital of Montevideo, this is surf and outdoor extreme sport country as well as a fast developing jet set region.
