Overlooking private forested woodlands and meadows, this modern cabin rental in the Netherlands is located on the edge of what was once a 19th century hunting domain in the central eastern region of the country.
The first in a series of innovative pre-fab home concepts, owners and designers Arno Schuurs and Paulien van Noort of the Netherlands based Getaway Projects agency created the cabin as a prototype and show model holiday home. Constructed in two prefabricated sections off site, the parts were transported to and installed on site using an innovative and simple screw foundation technique placing the structure above ground level. Using beautiful, all natural and low maintenance materials including untreated Oregon Pine planks for the facade, oak fishbone flooring, concrete and raw steel, the home is a modern homage to the rustic country cabin.
The smart layout combines a modest footprint that creates the illusion of space, with large windows that blur the boundaries between inside and out and a welcoming sense of warmth and style.
The main living area features a sunken lounge space with a cozy fireplace and cleverly integrated built-in custom seating and dining areas along with a fully equipped kitchen. There is one large sleeping area downstairs and a cozy “bird’s nest” loft space that can be reached by vertical stairs that is surrounded on three sides by windows and a skylight for star gazing.
Tucked away down a private dirt road in the forest, there are several footpaths on the property that lead to a hammock, a climbing rope, a swing and multiple seating areas for dining alfresco and enjoying nature.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Wifi, area guides, kitchen and bath essentials, linens included. Firewood provided.

Absolutely fabulous place to stay for us and our two young children. The house is in a very private location. Surrounded by corn fields and trees and the only thing you hear is the sounds of birds, sheep and cows. A perfect getaway for a couple of days and plenty of things to see and do in the near vicinity. We went to visit the Veluwe, Kroller Muller museum and the Apenheul. The house itself is modern and well equipped with everything you need and more. Design books, games for the children. From the top floor you have a great view of the fields. Also outside there is a patch of forest in which the children can play. We loved it, definitely recommended

We’ve spent lovely days at Skyview Cabin (great cabin!) and love the beautiful landscape of Overijssel. It was really hard to leave yesterday. Our little son was thrilled of the bird’s nest.
