What we like about this property

Imagine going up a small winding road through the Tuscan hills to a beautiful country house that is situated in a stunning location surrounded by olive groves and has breathtaking views of the city and the sea. You can soak up the Tuscan sun by the pool, cook a barbeque, or go to the charming village of Camaiore for an unforgettable and tranquil vacation.

Description

This recently renovated, 140 m² large, modern country house has a picturesque location on the hills of Camaiore, province of Lucca and only a few minutes drive from the splendid beaches of Versilia. The home is surrounded by olive groves and has a completely open view of the valley up to the sea. The owners Astrid and Peter Gufler personally welcome and introduce the guests on Saturday, and are there for all the questions and problems one could have during the week.

On the ground floor, you will find the living room with an open fireplace, a 46 in. flat screen TV, wireless high speed internet, an iPod sound dock, a large professionally equipped kitchen, adjacent room with single bed that can turn into a double if needed, with attached bathroom, washing machine, dryer, and a covered pergola with a dining place, and a wood and gas grill 5 m from the house. On the first floor, there are 2 bedrooms with double beds and a bathroom, one with shower and the other with a shower and a whirlpool bathtub. About 15m from the main house near the pool there is a 30 m² dependance with a double bedroom, en suite bathroom with shower, and a kitchenette.

Winter rentals: Casa Teresa is perfect for long-term rentals during winter. The in floor heating, open fireplace (wood included), and the southwest exposure make it very comfortable even on cold days. The Versilia is famous for mild winters, that’s the reason the area is always surrounded by green nature.

Our family of 5 stayed here from June 25th – July 2nd. The property is beautiful and the house itself has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Peter was so helpful and there at a moments notice. He sent us to a wonderful beach club where we had an amazing day soaking up the tuscan sun. Our two older daughters stayed in the pool house and were very comfortable. There is another house being finished on the property so it will be a great set up for two families traveling together. The view is amazing ! You are way up a small winding road. We are experienced driving in Italy but this could be intimidating for some. We cooked at home a few nights and that is when we had those few extra glasses of wine !! We would highly recommend this perfectly maintained property !

Highly reccommend this property, from the inside out, this farmhouse and property was masterfully rennovated with artisans of all trades and is beautifully maintained. Beautuful marble bathrooms, with top of the line fixtures and appliances. The owners who are close by are there to meet your needs or to assist you when you are in need of anything.

The location is secluded with great views of the valley and sea. Additioanlly it is central to many day trips, from Florence to Chinqua Terra.

All this made for a great family vacation, in a great part of Italy.

Each day we awoke to a sweet birdsong and light spilling through the windows of Casa Greta. This place is aglow with light and love. All week we have whisked off to the most lovely places…Lucca, San Gim, Volterra…medieval villages , walled cities, Montecatini Terme Alto perched high atop a hill and of course… the Renaissance Treasures of Firenze. We are here with much beloved friends and my heart has been warmed by the food and wine and laughter we have shared. But today, while everyone else headed to the sea I decided to stay here and simply bask in the glow of Casa Greta.

The Villa is nestled into the hillside of Pieve di Camaiore in the province of Lucca in Eastern Tuscany. After a white knuckled drive up the ridge through small, winding roads ancient gates open to reveal a golden Casa Greta. The Villa stands gracefully amidst beds of lavender and rosemary. The hills above and below yield fig trees and olive groves. The entire Tuscan countryside is perfumed with the scent of wild roses, lavender and rosemary and here at Casa Greta it is rich enough to make you swoon. Terracotta urns overflow with flowers and herbs.

Inside the restored medieval doors butter hued walls rise up from warm terracotta floors. Wood beams gleam in the ceiling and french doors open to patios and verandas that gaze over the hilltops. The view from the patio behind the kitchen (a culinary dream!!) has long arms reaching all the way to the sea. Beneath this a still pool welcomes friends to stop and savor life awhile.

The Villa is the creation of our hosts, Peter and Astrid Gufler- an architect and a sculptor. They call eachother shaktsi- which in their native tongue means my treasure. Unbeknownst to me at the time I leased their home, they are both longtime Yoga practitioners. Their are both celebrated artists in their own right and their masterpiece may well be the work of art they have sculpted out of this golden hilltop.

Pictures could never capture the sweetness of this place but it is my great pleasure to see them, to tell you as lovely as they appear, the Villa is even more beautiful! It warms my heart to extend a deep and heartfelt recommendation to anyone who might want to visit Toscana at its most beautiful

  • Casa Teresa is a very special sanctuary, set high in the hills above the charming town of Camaiore. Owners Astrid & Peter have created a very beautiful space of ‘rustic elegance’ and have spared nothing in designing a space that we instantly felt at home in. Although we visited in winter, the infloor radiant heating and fireplace in the living room, provided a warm and cozy atmosphere for our stay. This is a wonderful spot for those with discerning taste and looking for something special….the Italian kitchen is well stocked with everything a cook could want, the beds and linens are very comfortable, the bathrooms and home were spotless. Peter and Astrid were extremely welcoming and helpful hosts and we heartily recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a special experience of coastal Tuscany. We enjoyed a variety of day trips to Lucca, Pietrasanta, the Cinque Terra, and local Camaiore, only five minutes down the hill, offers a wide variety of food and services. The seafood in this region is fresh and superb and the vegetables fresh, even in winter. The only advice we offer is to rent a smaller size car for easier navigation of the winding road from town up to the villa. This is a very special place in a wonderful setting….peaceful yet not too remote. We loved it!

Casa Teresa was the perfect choice for our month in Tuscany. The house, and pool house, are well appointed, beautifully decorated, and have everything you would like or need – as if in your own home. The gourmet kitchen was a highlight (as we all enjoy cooking), as were our hosts Peter and Astrid. Their local knowledge, kindness and generosity made our experience at Casa Teresa truly memorable.

October provided us with warm days and cool nights, beautiful for enjoying the pool and surrounding hills on foot or by car. Hiking, bicycling, swimming and visiting nearby towns (Lucca, Pisa, Carrara, and even Florence) were all very accessible from this location.

Camaiore is a hidden gem, a true Tuscan town with friendly locals, rich culture and great festivals.
