This spacious apartment is located on the upper floors of a converted farmhouse in Valloire, France. There are so many reasons why we like it – not least because of its location, right off the slopes. It is also tastefully designed and furnished, and features lovely vaulted ceilings and a spectacular terrace.
This upper-level apartment in a converted French farmhouse is a great location for skiers wanting to make the most of the winter season in Valloire. However, it’s a also a great year-round destination.
One of the most appealing features is the stunning living area, with its high ceilings, exposed beams and stand-alone fireplace. A huge picture window leads onto a beautiful terrace overlooking the slopes. But equally attractive are the cosy bedrooms (5 in total) with their slanted ceilings, porthole windows, and rustic furnishings.
The apartment is split into three levels, with two bedrooms on the lower level, two in the middle and one on top.
The building has a communal indoor pool, which enjoys a unique view of the surrounding mountains. After a day of skiing or long walks in the mountains, guests can unwind or keep up the pace in the counter-current system. There’s also a sauna (with space for four) to steam out toxins and cleanse the skin.
All three apartments are equipped with fireplaces, underfloor heating, Italian showers and bathtubs, and multimedia systems.
Kitchens have traditional ovens and microwaves, dishwashers, washing machines and dryers, irons and boards, as well as fondue and raclette sets, toasters, espresso machines and coffee grinders.
Beds have mattresses with feather toppers, double pillows and duvets, and cotton bed linens.
Located at the bottom of the Galibier Pass, Valloire is a traditional village inhabited by 1300 people but frequented by many more visitors during ski season. It has two main skiing areas: the Sétaz and the Crey du Quart. The village is well-known for its après-ski and restaurants.
However, there are also three rivers, mountain lakes, forests and two summits (Aiguilles d’Arves and Grand Galibier), as well as 135km of paths for hiking, and 11 mountain-bike trails. The Galibier Pass, famous thanks to the Tour de France, is the natural frontier between the south and the north of the Alps, and there are two national parks within easy easy driving distance: La Vanoise and Les Ecrins.
Valloire, Savoie, France. Nearest airports: Turin (143km), Grenoble (177km).
