The quiet Neahkahnie Beach neighborhood in Nehalem along Oregon’s northern coast, is just a short walk along the shoreline into the picturesque little town next to the bay.
One of a trio of charming and historic villages nestled around the Nehalem River and Bay, nearby Manzanita, Wheeler and Nehalem are within the state’s northernmost Tillamook County and are part of some of its most photographed scenery in Oregon.
Stretching for hundreds of miles along the Pacific and the Cascade headlands, Tillamook county’s pristine beaches and protected wetlands are home to an extensive network of Nature Conservancy and state park lands, dotted with scenic rainforests including the Siuslaw National Forest and the Cascade network with a multitude of bird, marine and protected wildlife.
Small and quaint, the towns are quiet in off season and swell with tourists in summer. Located ninety miles west of Portland, it’s some of the loveliest and best protected coastline in the state.
