Intimate, simple, sometimes even a little primitive, the cabin is an American icon. Its appeal is both as a basic form of shelter and as a treasury of feelings, sensations and memories of family and friends.
More than just a structure, this cabin rental in Yosemite is a way of life. Located on twenty acres of pristine land in a remote meadow at seventy five hundred feet elevation, it’s surrounded by the Sierra National Forest.
When we discovered Far Meadow, this classic American log cabin was already here. So we gave it a face lift, modernizing the roof and updating the interior, without compromising its soul. It’s close to the A-frame cabin, but in a world of its own.
One room, classic style and a slice of heaven all your own. This is Far Meadow.

AROUND
Iconic, majestic and one of nature’s most dazzling wonders, Yosemite and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains with their towering Sequoias are some of the best that California has to offer.
Nearby Lewis Creek is a quieter and less crowded trail for a peaceful walk in the woods and is book-ended by both Corlieu Falls and the smaller Red Rock Falls, gorgeous cascades and creek side trails. Wawona Meadow Loop Trail is a lovely pastoral loop that great for just meandering through the wide valley floor.
Mariposa Grove is home to the biggest sequoia grove in Yosemite and to the 2700 year old “Grizzly Giant”. It’s pretty crowded in high season at the lower loop levels but Wawona Point and the Outer Loop Trail are higher up, less crowded and worth the climb.
In town, The Forks has been around for over 70 years and still has one of the best burgers we’ve ever had, with a cool casual diner vibe and outdoor patio with great views of Bass Lake. Sierra Sky Ranch is a historic, down home steakhouse with a proper saloon and Raley’s is like the great general stores of the past and is the best last stop for supplies on your way into the valley.
Be sure to hit the Bass Lake farmers market, a small and delicious event every Wednesday with local purveyors of excellent produce and treats at Pine’s Village.
It’s approximately a three and a half hour drive from Los Angeles and four and half from San Francisco.

This was our second time staying here, 3 years ago for my birthday and this time for my wife’s we love this cabin. The day we arrived we spotted a bob cat off Bisset Rd, just before turning right on Old Yosemite rd. The morning of Jan 1st we woke up around 8am in the day bed and saw the same Bob cat (or another one) strolling up the hill on the east side of the house only 10ft away, it was definitely the highlight of our trip. Thanks again Jason and Christine.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in this cabin for three nights. It was such a tranquil place, and the space was the perfect size for the two of us. (It could sleep four, but would recommend for a family since it’s an open space without doors separating rooms.) We would happily return for another trip.

What a great little place to get some RNR, the entrance to an amazing part of the world. Could not recommend highly enough!

Getting to Far Meadows was an adventure, and truly in the back country.Once there, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The log cabin was great and rustic. We moved to the AFrame for the next 2 nights and had great time., We hiked the back meadows, up into th thick woods. Took Danny’s advice to hike to Upper Jack Ass Lake and found our most amazing spot for our entire 12 d stay in California. We will definitely be back!!

I just wanted to drop you a line and thank you so much for the stay in your beautiful Log cabin. We had a wonderful time away from all the distractions of everyday life. It was so beautiful and quiet up there and Danny was a fantastic host.
Looking forward to our next stay!

I just wanted to tell you- because I think it is always nice to give positive feedback- that my German friends who came with me and stayed in the Log Cabin said that the stay at Far Meadow was their favorite California experience! I knew they’d like it, but…they LOVED it!
Thanks again- looking forward to another trip next summer,
Natalie

I just wanted to say thanks for a wonderful stay in the High Sierras. The Log Cabin and Silver Streak were great fun to stay in and the land absolutely beautiful. The cabin had everything we needed and was an enjoyable experience in rugged luxury! Danny was very nice, helpful, and a great guide to the surrounding features in the area. We had a fantastic time. Thanks!
In peace, and a little more peaceful after staying at Far Meadow!
