Built in 1897, this chalet is everything you love about Switzerland and more. Recently renovated with an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary furnishings and artwork, this luxury boutique guesthouse in Switzerland combines a juxtaposition of vintage and modern themes that celebrate the old and new.
Designed as an intimate accommodation with the amenities of a hotel, the concept was developed by an entrepreneur couple with journalistic and hotel backgrounds who bought the property when it was a private residence. Smartly reimagined to accommodate multiple guests, there are now eight rooms (four en-suite), three with views of the Jungfrau range and gardens, one with a private garden entrance and the remaining with lovely views. The northern rooms face the Harder while the southern rooms face the Jungfrau.
The three ground floor parlors are equipped with cozy sofas and armchairs, multiple tables/workings desks and library where you can cuddle up in front of the fireplace. There are also two spacious verandas, a covered terrace and lovely gardens to roam in and admire the views.
The owners have also opened an on-site shop of curated design products, books and items from the house and their travels for purchase.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Wifi throughout. Bathrobes and slippers. Housekeeping, parking.
AROUND
A beloved and storied destination, the picturesque village of Interlaken was a favorite of many influential artists including Byron, Schubert and Goethe.
Nestled into the Bernese Oberland valleys of central Switzerland between the sparkling Thun and Brienz lakes, the main village is set along the banks of the Aare River. This quiet neighbourhood is just a five minute walk from the town’s famous “Höhematte”, the central meadow, and the beautiful castle grounds where you’ll enjoy amazing views of the Jungfrau and Eiger alpine ranges.
The perfect spot for hiking treks or skiing in the mountains, the town itself has several cultural spots not to be missed. Kunsthaus is the town’s ambitious hub of artistic expression, with internationally acclaimed exhibitions, concerts and events. The Kulturgarage, a multifaceted platform for arts and events in a former garage also includes artists’ workshops as well as a vintage shop.

Maison Bergdorf is a beautiful place and I highly recommend it, especially if you are interested in art, architecture and interior design. The decor is fantastic, the view of Jungfrau is amazing, and the hosts are warm and welcoming. They can help with booking activities and restaurants in the area and every recommendation I received was spot on. If I ever return to Switzerland I would return to Maison Bergdorf as well.

Amazing boutique guesthouse. Bea was a wonderful host. Plenty of common areas to read and lounge about. Walking distance to the city center and Interlaken Ost. Amazing views of the mountains. Plenty of free parking. Great little croissant breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

This was one of the best rental experiences we’ve ever had. The place is stunning, and is in a perfect location for enjoying Interlaken and the surrounding area. The breakfast was great (and they have loose leaf tea). They treated us so well, and we had a view of the Jungfrau from our room. I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Just think, you could be waking up every morning to the smell of freshly baked croissants, jam and the best coffee you’ve ever had. Seriously this place was the BEST! The aesthetic of the home is a dream — so many adorable and quite places to cuddle up with a good book or laptop. To add to the beauty of it all, the view of the mountains from our room and the very short walk to and from the bus stop made this an A++ experience.

What a lovely guest house. We had 4 nights at Maison Bergdorf and loved every minute. The place is just as the pictures present it; lovely decor, nice rooms (especially ours which had great views of the jungfrau). Communal lounge area is perfect to relax on a rainy day and meet other guests, I think there are 8 rooms in total. The finishing touches and attention to detail and above and beyond. The croissants definitely deserve a mention also. We will be back!

Loved the stay. The place is fantastic and exceeded our expectations. The photos don’t do the place justice!! Communication has been amazing with plenty of suggestions when asked various questions We were treated as guests of the house rather then just travellers who were staying Would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back again!!
