What we like about this property

This is one of those chic little hideaways that employs such great imagination and original perspective. We like the retro patterns, distinctive color combinations and mix of vintage detail.

Description

Discovered by chance by two avid world travelers, this once derelict 19th century former wine factory in central Milan has been painstakingly restored and reimagined by your hosts as a personal place where tradition, design, craftsmanship and the joy of travels converge. Native Milanese, Fabio and Marco have injected this former utilitarian building with groovy sophistication and  eye catching design, collecting and showcasing several decades of modernist design and furnishings. From 1960’s Canovas wallpapers and 1970’s decor, to Paolo Buffa, Gio Ponti and Le Corbusier vintage modern furnishings mixed in with handwoven Darjeeling carpets and early 20th century Spanish pieces, each room evokes a time and place and all are presided over by the intriguing 18th century Neopolitan portrait of Serafina Albertini, Princess of Cimitile who is the patron grande dame of the house. With four individually stylized rooms, the house is intimate and thoughtfully detailed and each is perfect for two.

Encircled by a traditional veranda that leads up to two expansive rooftops, one leads to two of the larger rooms with private kitchens and the other is the best spot for alfresco dining and lounging above the city. The terraces are a relaxing oasis with camellias, weeping willows, lemon and orange trees and where in the summer months you can enjoy the tomatoes and zucchini that are shared with guests. Stylish and complex in tone and design, there is nevertheless an ease and simplicity of living here that’s uplifting and refreshing.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Home to the iconic La Scala, and da Vinci’s Last Supper, Milan is more than it’s industrial businesslike image. You can reach the famed lake Como in under an hour’s drive.

Perfect place for people like me who appreciate a well designed small place to stay in the middle of the city. Very kind hospitality and nice breakfast!

We loved our stay there! We arrived there quite late because of our flight, but were greeted with a nice and warm welcome (and even had a bite to eat after our long flight!) The room, decoration, food, it’s all very well thought, with a lot of attention. If we go back to Milan, would definitely go there again (except that I’d perhaps ask for a room on the garden side rather than traffic one)!

Very charming, cosy place. Location is perfect to discover Milan, 5 min. Walk from train station Garibaldi and few steps away from Corso Como, with plenty of bars and nice restaurants around. Fabio and staff where adorable, the house is decorated with fine taste. And the best was the breakfast on the beautiful terrasse !!!

We loved everything about LaFavia 4 Rooms starting with Fabio and his wonderful assistants. We rented the top level apartment for two. It was thoughtfully designed, well lit and very comfortable. Fabio was an excellent host; all our requests were met cheerfully with a simple “yes.” Breakfast in the gorgeous garden was delicious, and a lovely way to start the day. The location in Milan was excellent for us as walkers. We didn’t use the public transportation system, though several options, including open trams, are literally at the doorstep for those who prefer to move around the city more quickly. Milan is a fabulous city, and LaFavia is a perfect home there.
