What we like about this property

Exotic, colorful and inspired, these beautifully designed individual villas offer personally tailored hospitality in an unbeatable location right on the sands of the Arabian Sea. Rich in culture, luxury and a blend of traditional and modern design, you’ll experience the best of both worlds here.

Located on a secluded beach at Mararikulam in Alleppey district of Kerala, Boutique Villas offer the cultural beauty, serene privacy, and a more intimate alternative to resorts in a beautiful natural setting.

A relatively unknown coastal region of Kerala, the area still has the vibe of a small fishing village and is surrounded by temples and rich multicultural influences along with vast stretches of stunning Arabian coastline. Designed and created by an expat husband and wife team, the concept and scale were developed to appreciate the unique beauty and culture of India, where attention to detail and hospitality meet.

Comprised of five individual villas, each is serviced and catered by the staff with discretion and exclusivity. Blending contemporary and traditional vernacular styles and design influences, the inspiring indoor-outdoor living spaces are ideally suited to the tropical environment of Kerala. Nestled into lush sprawling gardens with private pools and views out to sea, it’s the perfect destination for the ultimate relaxing beach holiday.

Fully staffed with concierge services. Private chef (optional lunch and dinner menus served) with breakfast served daily and room service available. Housekeeping and laundry services. Unique wellness retreats can be arranged with spa and in room treatments. Wifi throughout, guest computer available, iPod audio. Airport transfers available, off street parking.

Located in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala, Marari Beach sits along a relatively undiscovered stretch of coastline in the Alleppey district, often refered to as the “Venice of India” due to it’s network of canals and charming houseboats that snakes through the backwaters. Dotted with charming fishing villages along the way, it’s an important trade harbor and interesting tourist hub. Further north is Kochi and Fort Cochin, the Vypin island penisula and Cherai Beach. Munnar and the inland tea plantations, Athirapally water falls and the famous tiger reserves of Parambiculum in the Western Ghats can be reached within a couple of hours.

Stayed here for 6 nights at the end of our trip around Kerala in April. Perfect ending – the villa and pool were great, and the service attentive but unobtrusive. Drinks on the beach with the sunset on the last night were amazing. If you go on the market tour make sure the chef takes you.

Would highly recommend if you want some seclusion. Would stay here again for sure.

We were in one of the cottages, enjoying sounds of the rain on the roof. Wonderfully relaxing spot, this walled cottage with swimming pool, veranda for dining and hammock under the trees. Dinner last night was excellent, with Kerala specialty fish dishes and interesting sauces prepared by own chef and brought to our veranda table. We’ve arranged for a yoga class this afternoon and a cooking class tonight–we’ll see if possible to recreate some of these dishes at home!
Lovely beach to walk along and admire the coconut palms and watch the fishermen haul in their nets. We have a great time!

The villas are right on the beach, nice design, with a very attentive service. We have been to many indian beaches, and this one remains very authentic. we also appreciated Olga and rupert, the owners, very attentive and discrete.

We were at the end of a tour which was exciting but tiring and we were glad to unpack for five days. We stayed in Boutique Villas and found it to be one of the best and most relaxing places we had visited. The garden and the pool which are your own are very private. The food was excellent and was served to us in our garden. The sound of the birds and the music from the church all added to the atmosphere. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them.

We stayed at Boutique Villas in on of the cottages in March for 6 nights … what a perfect way to end a 3 week trip to India. The villa is set in an unspoilt, residential, non-commercial part of Kerala with both backwaters and beach.

The villa itself is stunning and is very well appointed, as well as the usual amenities there were added extras like a mobile phone for emergencies when you are out exploring, sun cream, insect repellent, a choice of books and dvd, and even a sunhat. This added detail went a long way in making our stay feel that bit more comfortable and gave us a feeling of being very well looked after.

The villa has it’s own private garden and a private pool which proved to be a great place to relax and unwind, fully equipped with hammocks and deck chairs and a very romantic candlelit dining area for evening meals. The garden is beautifully designed with various orchids on show and the villas are surrounded by coconut palms and banana trees. We loved waking up to the huge double doors overlooking the gardens, the surroundings are very clam, serene and peaceful to the sound of bird song. Perfect escape following the bustle of an afternoon visit into town.

The food was the best we had over our three week stay in India!!!!!!!, Everything was freshly cooked and beautifully presented, and very very delicious. Make sure you try the Keralan feast served on a banana leaf and the Masala dosa…. South Indian cooking at its best …. yum!!!!! We even bought a dosa pan to take back home, hoping in vain to replicate this yummy local cuisine.

The beach is a short walk from the villa which is deserted except for the local fisherman. You have your own sunbeds and umbrella set up by Benjamin when you want them. We used the beach each day, and went to the pool afterwards.

We would like to say a huge thanks to the whole team for making our stay exceptional above and beyond expectations. A heart felt thanks to Shan who was always there to ensure we were very well looked after, to Benjamin who ensured the beach was always arranged with sunbeds, too Rajesh for preparing the most wonderful dishes tasted and Tincy who also kept our rooms looking lovely.

If you are looking to experience the ‘real India’ with a taste of local life, be sure to add Boutique Villas to your itinerary you will not be disappointed.
