What we like about this property

This is the good life! This cool compound combines both the agricultural lifestyle and artistic sensibilities with great effect. We love living among the orchards and farm animals.

Description

This 32-acre working farm has been transformed into a bucolic village of sorts with the three main cottages providing a private retreat as well as a community. Rustic and charming, this is a lifestyle that is as inviting as it is functional.

The property has been lovingly updated for comfort and enjoyment but retains its working roots with a year round harvest of seasonal crops and products.

Each cottage has its own front porch, fireplace and queen-sized bed and all have slightly different rustic design. You can opt for the “Room with a View” which is above the main house and provides exactly that. A fantastic view with a private bath and cozy fireplace it also has its own private entrance. All are furnished with down home charm and supremely comfortable.

The Apple Farm is a great rural homestead that gives you the opportunity to experience the best of a working farm lifestyle along with a unique vacation experience.

Wifi is available in the kitchen common area.

AROUND

Perfectly situated to enjoy wine country and the Pacific coast, the Apple Farm is also nearby Hendy Woods State Park with magnificent redwood forests. You can take a dip in the Navarro River or stroll the grounds and enjoy the bounty of the farm.

One of the most unique B&Bs located in Northern California wine country. From the honor system apple stand, to the fresh cottages and bungalows that reflect a simpler vintage era, to the wonderful breakfast, a stay here will be etched in your memories.

    Magical…

I stayed at the Philo Apple Farm over Labor Day Weekend and it was amazing. My friend invited a group of eight or so to celebrate her birthday and I didn’t know what to expect, but I was in for a real treat. We stayed in “cabins” on the property and they featured all that you would need plus very hip and modern bathrooms. I loved the corrugated steel ceilings and other architectural details. Karen, the owner, is gracious, attentive and you feel like you are staying with a relative that you really, really like. The morning breakfast is laid back and scrumptious. Scones are difficult to get right but Philo Farms nails it. If you are looking to get away from a crazy urban environment and truly enjoy the country, this is your place. Not to be missed.

Beautiful, private, serene scenic B&B on a real working farm
Close to many wineries and a few fine restaurants (including the Bewildered Pig). Cottages are spacious, modern and tastefully decorated with a bit of French country style. Delicious breakfast of berries and scones. We had a perfect romantic weekend getaway, highly recommended.

Laid back stay in the orchard.

Very relaxing site. Laid back relaxing part of the world here. Hands off service (there when you need it). The green door was a good ADA option. Be sure to catch the community light breakfast, the preserves and home made baked goodies are excellent.

    Gem in Mendocino!
I went for a weekend of cooking classes with 3 couples. The setting is beautiful and inspiring. My cottage was immaculate and spacious- with a huge open shower. I had a king size bed plus a day bed. The cooking instruction was incredible- with ingredients directly from the farm- incredible eating! They send you home with many great recipes. I will go back, and stay on the farm. Would be a fun trip for groups of friends- they also do weddings- a spectacular setting. It’s also next door to a state park, and about a 20 minute drive from the coast.

This will make you want to move to Anderson Valley
Cozy cottages spread throughout a vintage apple orchard with the option to participate in cooking classes at the main house which has a beautiful commercial kitchen. The honor system apple stand is precious.

    Warm and Delicious!
Looking towards retiring and wanting something special for our anniversary, my husband booked a cooking weekend at the Apple Farm. Imagine a huge bucket full of fresh raspberries coming into the kitchen while you’re preparing dinner or sitting outside, under a canopy of trees whose branches are woven together with a chandelier hanging from the middle. This was magic. The meals we were taught to prepare were sophisticated and delicious. This is a working farm. A beautiful working farm with beautiful people working it. The four separate guest houses are all unique and face one another. The whole farm is awash in creativity and love of the earth. The whole experience was awash in love and peace and beauty. Bravissimo that such a place exists on this planet.
