Originally built in 1849, the home is a traditional colonial era gem that had remained in the same family until it was acquired in 2010. Having fallen into disrepair, the gardens had reverted to impenetrable jungle and the house was in need of a renaissance when MMP Architects took it on.
The delicate white architecture is beautifully contrasted by the lush gardens while the decor is a minimalist mix of polished concrete accented by the original wooden doors, hand crafted furnishings, and locally sourced art.

The living and dining areas are all situated on the ground floor opening out to a lovely garden-view veranda. Beyond the living room is a large formal, open-sided dining veranda with room for ten overlooking the gardens and an adjacent fully equipped kitchen finished in smooth grey concrete. There are four en-suite bedrooms situated across two floors, each with breathtaking tropical garden views.
There are fabulous views over Mirissa fishing harbor and Weligama bay from the top of the gardens and a long lap pool for cooling off from the tropical sun.

The small town of Mirissa on the south coast of Sri Lanka is a charming and picturesque coastal town with a beautiful white sand beach, surrounded by lush tropical jungle with lively restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk.
The waters off the coast are full of life, with world class whale watching, snorkeling and diving and both the Sinharaja Rainforest National Park and Udewalawe National Park (the best place to see wild elephants in Sri Lanka) are worth the two hour drive.
The UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle is a forty minute drive north and it’s the most well preserved colonial cities on the island. Unawatuna, Wijaya and Midigama beaches are on the way and you are a two hour drive from Colombo.
