Breezy and Beachy Mid-Century
This is the perfect home for lounging. A bright splash of white, with long elegant lines, it's located in the cosmopolitan coastal city of Miami Beach. The resort may be better known for its Art Deco architecture, but it also has its fair share of gorgeous mid-century homes, including this one. Built in 1962, it was a pioneering green home, built from cement and using solar panels well ahead of its time.
Its owners, a photographer and stylist, have kept the exterior lines but given the home a contemporary makeover, opening up much of the interior to create a sense of space. One of the most appealing features of this house are the rows of windows that wrap around the house, flooding the rooms with sunshine.
The interiors are elegant in muted whites, greys and wood tones, with simple, contemporary furnishings, soft accent rugs and textiles. The living room is large and devoted to relaxation, with a large TV, sectional sofa and hanging basket chair, and it leads into an equally large dining area.
We love the master bedroom, with its soft shag area rug and decadent en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has a queen and en-suite bathroom. The third and fourth bedrooms have fulls, with exclusive bathrooms. The house sleeps seven guests very comfortably and is a great space for entertaining.
Pass through the large patio doors into the garden for yet more lounging. The owners have surrounded the house with palm trees, creating a private oasis. They remodeled the pool, converting it to saltwater in the process, and added whitewashed wooden decking, with scattered mattresses, bean bags, and poufs. It’s also a great space for dining, with an outdoor kitchen, barbecue, dining table, and banquette seating.

Miami Beach has a reputation for its moderate climate, laid-back lifestyle and a great variety of cultural events. Dubbed America's Riviera, it's an island city of just 7.1 square miles that separates Biscayne Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. With its seven miles of beaches and 20 parks, there's plenty to do outdoors.
However, indoor options include the world-famous Bass Museum of Art, a space for fine arts at the center of the Cultural Arts Neighborhood, as well as the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum and the Jewish Museum of Florida. Every December, the Art Basel Miami Beach shows off the works of more than 1,500 artists.
The city is also known for its cafes, clubs and shopping along South Beach's Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road and Washington Avenue, and the refurnished Art Deco Historic District is a big draw.
