We like the simple country charm, rustic character and traditional Turkish decor along with the amazing views here.
Standing high above the village of Gokcobel on Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula, this early 20th century cottage sits down a private drive in a peaceful garden setting with amazing views of the mountains, the Aegean sea, and harbor of Yalikavak.
Designed after the traditional Bodrum cottages found throughout the area, the home has been lightly renovated but retains it’s ancient character and authentic Turkish construction. With it’s twenty inch thick stone walls and timbered ceilings, the structure is full of character and simple rustic style.
The comfortable L-shaped living room, and dining area sit across from the compact self catering kitchenette making it a cozy retreat for two. The full size en suite master bedroom includes a private dressing area. Outside is a generous veranda for taking in stunning sunsets over the mountains and a lovely pool for cooling off.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Property manager available. Satellite cable TV, stereo with CD player and music library. Land line telephone for local calls.
AROUND
Perched above the local village of Gokcobel, the house serves as an excellent starting point for various short trips to the local villages or to Bodrum city and the greater peninsula. The ancient city of Halicarnassus, the historic catacombs, the remains of the Legian Empire castle (dating from 500 BC), and the Roman aqueduct make for fascinating day trips. The picturesque village of Gumusluk is within a short drive as are the mountains in Labranda near Milas, where you’ll encounter the massive ancient stone structures. Yalikavak Marina is to the west, Samos Island in Greece is 45km north and Gundogan lies to the east.

A lovely secluded property, wonderful views and sunsets at night whilst using the BBQ on the spacious terrace. Away from the rush of Yalikavak and Bodrum but close enough to enjoy their restaurants, markets and beaches. Supermarket very short walk away for any emergencies.
Frank the owner was great, lots of local information, tips and recommendations on arrival and easy to contact with any queries.
Try Dodo beach in Yalikavak for great unspoilt views, swimming and service!

Secluded and yet near the village, near all conveniences, we found ourselves surrounded by a beautiful nature in a house of a perfect size, perfect view, perfect terrace… We will probably return next year for a longer period.
