We love this loft complex in the center of Florence. Created from a 19th-century factory by architect Claudio Nardi, it’s a collection of ten apartments of varying sizes, offering plenty of options for stylish travelers.
The smallest of its rentals are these two studios, each under 30sqm with a tiny private terrace or patio. They may be cosy but they don’t scrimp on sophistication. The loft interiors are open plan, in gentle hues, with simple design elements. Each has its own bathroom and kitchenette.
The owners describe the property as “halfway between being at home and away” – which is a concept we love. It’s partly familiar, partly brand new, a blend of strong contemporary lines and soft historical features like stone walls, cross vaults and fireplaces.
More a small village than an apartment block, the complex is built around a private garden, with white sandstone pool, hammocks and sun beds. It also has a 24-hour living room with an honesty bar, TV, CD/DVD player, wifi, library and fireplace.
So there’s plenty of room for getting to know the other guests – or for housing a large group in separate spaces. A great vacation home for rent in Italy.
Each studio has a telephone (with free national calls), TV, kitchenette or kettle and facilities for tea/coffee and snacks, heating/air conditioning, hairdryer, minibar (with free soft drinks), safety box, courtesy kit, and gym items. Free vintage bicycles are available for guests.
The property is available for events.
The lofts are situated along the Arno, just opposite the historic Parco delle Cascine, which is within easy walking distance via a public garden along the banks of the river. It’s a great place for running, walking or horse riding.
The property is 2.5km from the center of Florence, which can be reached within 10 minutes by taxi or in 30 minutes by foot. The owners also offer free bicycles, which will get you there in 10 minutes. The new tramway (stop Paolo Uccello or Sansovino) is just 200m from the property. There are tennis and golf clubs close by, as well as many good restaurants.
