    A Touch of Indulgence

    A Touch of Indulgence

Imagine ambling into a grand apartment in a lost palace echoing of decadent evenings of feasting and dancing. That is the first and prevailing impression of this luxury villa in Rome. We love the audacious juxtaposition of mid-century modern furniture and contemporary art with early Baroque frescoes and gold-leaf moldings in this generous space. It’s like being whisked into a time-traveling love affair of art and design.

At the top of some stately marble stairs, the double doors of  this luxury villa in Rome open into a piano nobile – its main noble floor of elegant reception halls, public rooms, and master bedrooms.

Each of the five spacious bedrooms offers its own touch of indulgence. Gilded vault details outline the pristine white master suite, its freestanding bath calling to you beside a double marble vanity. Cherubs in the 17th-century ceiling fresco by Nicolas Poussin serenade you in the queen bedroom. A private sauna awaits in the king bedroom. Six baths offer an assortment of spacious Italian showers and deep bathtubs furnished with bath amenities by the quintessentially Italian brand Ortigia, inspired by the flowers and culture of Sicily.

In the vast light-filled living and dining room, Eames, Panton, and Castiglioni lounge beneath a magnificent 16th-century ceiling fresco by Frederico and Taddeo Zuccari depicting Allegories of the Months and Virtues. Plush velvet sofas offer respite from a day of walking in the Eternal City. Piazza Mattei and its iconic Fontana delle Tartarughe lie just below its towering windows.

For a bit of playful evasion, enjoy a round or two in the grand billiard room with its vaulted ceilings and its very own 16th-century fresco by Cavalier d’Arpino, one of Caravaggio’s masters.

    ADDITIONAL FEATURES & EXPERIENCES

The villa comes with a host of complimentary services: luxury transfer service from Rome’s airports and train stations, a 24-hour concierge service, Wi-Fi connection, Sky TV in multiple languages, and even a tablet pre-loaded with applications to help you make the best of your stay in Rome.

The kitchen is fully equipped for when you feel like dining in, and a personal chef service is available for an additional fee if cooking is not your thing. Reserve an authentic Italian dinner and find the table ready after a day of exploring the city – or live the full experience! Your chef will take you shopping in nearby shops and markets. Then back in the apartment, they’ll prepare the meal while delivering a lesson in Italian cooking. Then your chef will serve you dinner as you enjoy the rest of the evening.

A babysitter is available for hire should you wish to leave the kids in for a romantic night out. And for all of you who can’t do without your morning workout, a personal trainer or yoga instructor can be engaged at a fee too.  Your concierge will make it all happen!

    AROUND

Sant’ Angelo is the smallest rioni, or district, in Rome. It is historically known as Rome’s Jewish ghetto, and is home to the Synagogue of Rome. The Circus Flaminius of ancient Rome stretched into this little district, and when it crumbled, new houses were built using its ruins. Traces of the circus can still be found in the walls of its oldest houses. Foodies will rejoice in knowing that the bustling produce market of Campo de’ Fiori is less than 10 minutes away by foot. The Castel Sant’ Angelo with its elaborate rooms and panoramic views of the Eternal City is a leisurely 20 minute stroll across the Tiber.

    LOCATION

Palazzo Costaguti is located at Piazza Mattei, just steps from the Tiber, with a view on the historic Fontana delle Tartarughe, a monument in itself. Rome, Italy. Nearest Airport:  Fiumicino and Ciampino airport (20 minutes)
