What we like about this property

We like this contemporary home’s Scandinavian inspired design and interesting collection of retro furnishings and art. Located in one of Iceland’s best areas for exploring magnificent sites, it’s a comfortable and convenient base to call home.

Description

Situated in the town of Selfoss in the southern region of Iceland, this residential home was designed by leading Icelandic architect Kjartan Sveinsson in the Scandinavian functionalism style of the 1970s.

Discovered and renovated by a writer and composer, it’s an ideal base for travelers to explore the regions amazing sites in privacy, comfort and style.

Sunny and bright, the large living room benefits from south facing light from banks of windows overlooking leafy gardens with an adjacent dining room that seats six and an electric piano for music enthusiasts. The upper level also includes the roomy en-suite master while the two additional bedrooms reside on the ground floor, with room for up to seven guests. A study and small library room upstairs can be used as an extra childs bedroom with a fold out bed and includes a computer for guest use. Decorated with a personal collection of original art, period furniture and designer objects, the home is a stylish and comfortable holiday retreat.

This villa is well situated close to the grocery market and has parking, also have a great view. Rooms are nice with very comfortable beds. But the water in the shower has a sulfur smell that is due to it apparently having its source in the Iceland vast underground hot springs.
Highly recommend to stay in this villa!!
I’d definitely stay here the next time I’m in Selfoss, Iceland.

Loved the open-plan first floor lounge and dining area, with views of the mountains, garden, and open skies. Very cozy and spacious accommodation, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would definitely go again – we felt like we were staying in a real Icelandic home, rather than a self-catering villa.

Nice house, well located in a nice town. We uncovered, in a week, a small part of this beautiful country. We were dazzled by the beautiful landscapes. We keep an excellent memory. The choice of the house has much done.

La villa est agréable, entourée d”un jardin qui l’isole des voisins. Le quartier est calme mais proche du centre (restaurants et commerces). La maison est très bien équipée et très spacieuse.
