This vacation home for rent in France is built on three levels, with large balconies and decked terraces wrapped around it, all with sea views. It’s the outdoor spaces that make it really special – the tiled pool, the terraces with sun beds, the built-in barbecue, dining tables and banquette seating. There’s even a boules court under the palms within the landscaped gardens. Exactly what you imagine when you plan a visit to the south of France.
The house has five bedrooms divided between its three floors. All have en-suite bathrooms and those on the lower levels have direct access to either private balconies or the main terrace. The main living area is on the second level, with a large living/dining room that expands out into the outside terrace. There are multiple options for relaxing and dining both inside and out.
The villa is well equipped with tech – wifi, UK satellite television, French terrestrial television, Apple TV and a DVD player. There is also a hi-fi audio system with CD player and sound dock. A selection of books and games is provided.
The kitchen is has Gaggenau appliances with zoneless induction hob, oven, large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The cellar/pool plant room has an additional American fridge/freezer, as well as washing machine and dryer.
Egyptian cotton bed linen are provided, as well as bath, hand and pool towels. Guests should bring their own beach towels. For stays of seven days or longer, linen is replaced on a weekly basis at the same time as the weekly cleaning. More frequent linen changes can be arranged at additional cost. There is inside parking and additional street parking.
The villa is located in what the Sunday Times describes as an ‘undiscovered secret’. Aiguebelle is located between perennial St Tropez and a region named father lyrically after the lavender flower, Le Lavandou. This stretch of the French Riviera is known for its idyllic beaches, beautiful views and, unsurprisingly, flowers.
The villa is well situated for exploring the hills and vineyards of Provence, as well as St Tropez, Nice, Cannes and Monaco. For the more adventurous, the river canyon, Gorge de Verdon, is within easy reach. The Massif des Maures hills are a few minutes away, with the classic Provencal villages of Bormes les Mimosa, Gassin, Cogolin and Collobrieres all nearby.
The villa is five minutes’ walk from Jean-Blanc beach, one of the quietest and prettiest of the 12 beaches in Le Lavandou. There are also great coastal walks and a cycle route. Guests can catch the ferry from Le Lavandou to the beautiful Porquerolles islands, or sail, windsurf, jet and water-ski in nearby Cavalière. Several local marinas provide boats for hire, and the owners can arrange a classic sailing yacht.
Cavalière also has an excellent tennis club. About 25 minutes drive is the golf course at La Londe, with sloping fairways and challenging greens.
