We like the colorful sophistication of this stately chateau whose interiors have been expanded and brightened, reviving it’s historical character with a light contemporary update and a free spirited approach to tradition.
Located down a quiet gated road, this lovely country house is surrounded by the rural beauty and seclusion of the Bordeaux regions’ vast vineyards and farms. Elegant and historic, the house has been completely renovated and expanded by a local architect and his craftsmen to include bright and spacious open plan living areas and a smart, contemporary redistribution of space. The original features including the sweeping staircase and warm wood floors and beams enhance the country flavor and the house has been decorated with an interesting mix of period antiques and a few modern flourishes.
The living and formal dining areas are ideal for entertaining and seat up to eight and are adjacent to the large chef’s kitchen. During summer season you’ll serve yourself with the option of a private chef but the rest of the year you’ll enjoy the culinary skills of your hosts when the home operates as a B&B. As professional Michelin rated chefs, the focus is on the amazing local food and unforgettable dining experiences.
There are four spacious and bright en suite double bedrooms (one on the ground floor), each with unique style and personality which can be rented in total or individually as a bed and breakfast guest.
Outside you’ll find rambling private gardens with an abundance of fruit trees and vineyards where you can lounge poolside in complete peace and where you can fire up the pizza oven and BBQ for alfresco summer dining and fun.
Full B&B services including breakfast daily during low season with optional private chef available for deliciously prepared dinners during self catering high season (minimum of 6 guests at €75 per person). Wifi throughout, cable TV with DVD, indoor and outdoor games. Housekeeping and laundry facilities. Children’s highchair, cots, toys and equipment with optional childcare services available. Optional holistic recreation and spa treatments, all arranged with local businesses.
The small village village of Gensac overlooks the valleys of the Dordogne and Dureze in the heart of the vineyards and medieval towns of the Libourne. Just an hour from the famed port city of Bordeaux, a half hour from Bergerac and the lovely village of St Emilion, this villa is located in one of the best regions of Gironde. Named one of the “most beautiful villages in France,” the fortified village of Pujols is along the way to Arcachon Bay which is worth the two hour drive. The Spanish border is approximately four hours away and en route are Bidart, St Jean De Luz and Biarritz.
Gensac, France. Nearest Airport: Bergerac International Airport (35 km)
