Tucked away among a village of charming cottages and shacks, this beach house rental in Tasmania is set right on the waterfront of Lettes Bay on the island’s wild west coast.
Along with its neighbors, the cottage is a historically listed structure that comes complete with its own jetty and stunning views of the water and rainforests. The typical clapboard construction with French windows and doors and dreamy, scenic location lend it a timeless quality. Restored and designed by a creative director and native Aussie, the house is her pride and joy and is decorated with love and delight with objects and furnishings from around Australia and the world. Infusing the compact spaces with a sense of fun and wonder, the comforts are all here as well, with a cozy bed for two, comfy furnishings and a claw foot tub for soaking in the views.
The spaces around the cabin and the jetty are great for a lazy morning coffee watching the bay come to life or for a relaxing glass of wine at sunset from the deck. Keep you eyes out for the fisherman coming in, they’ll usually sell you some of the fresh catch of the day!
The owners also create small runs of original, hand crafted items for sale including heavy weight linen captains bags and prints and textiles.
Shared by all of the fellow shack owners, the area is supremely quiet and peaceful but also comes alive with the buzz of fishing, boat building and community.
