This villa in Bali has five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The heart of the villa is the main pavilion consisting of the living room and dining area which seats up to 10 people, plus the office and an indoor plunge pool with a day bed.
Considered “La piece de resistance” is Istana Semer’s impressive kitchen, where Putu and Made unspool their endless knowledge of Balinese culture and cuisine. At the back of the main pavilion, there is a secret study room that beckons an afternoon nap or a movie: it has a large satellite TV, and a DVD/CD player with a movie library.
Outside, the Club House sits above the pool, with a terrace that has a dining table with seating for up to 14 people. This room has a good view of the gardens and pool, if the parents would like to enjoy themselves at a safe distance. It also has a bar and fridge, and adjacent to it, there is an air-conditioned second TV room (another great nap nest). Many events have been successfully thrown in this room.
The villa has five generous en-suite double bedrooms, with the master and second bedroom featuring baths (the rest have showers). The upstairs master bedroom has views of the garden from a lovely terrace and its own little sitting room area, dressing room and large bathroom with bath and shower. This room has a TV with international channels and a DVD player.
The four guest bedrooms are on the ground floor of the villa and all have typically tropical indoor/outdoor bathrooms. One includes a day bed on the veranda, a lovely retreat with a good book before dinner.

AROUND
Bali is known for gastronomic tourism, and the owners are proud to recommend their favorite dining spots that are all within 20 minutes of driving from the villa. There is Sardine, in Seminyak, with its view that overlooks the stunning rice fields, perfect for lunch or dinner and just a ten-minute drive from the villa. La Lucciola is a joglo-style beachfront restaurant that serves all day.
For dinner, the owners recommend Metis for its white-tablecloth setting that transforms into a DJ and party atmosphere in the evening, or the buzzy Asian restaurant Mama San. For an unfussy, Neopolitan-style pizza, tuck into the wood-fired deliciousness at Da Maria. Kids are encouraged to enter the big open kitchen and make their own.
Recommended for groups, Mera Putih serves modern and traditional Indonesian tapas in an elegant setting with triple-height ceilings with indoor palm trees. And Som Chai, by the celebrity street food chef, Will Meyrick, is a grand Thai cuisine experience with elements of live performance.
