On a hilltop that watches over paddy fields, rests a 2015-built luxury villa in Goa. Creators Hans Tuinman and Sucheta Potnis, an environmentally-minded couple with deep roots in the travel industry, drew upon their adventures and expertise to create a tropical paradise with Balinese leanings, featuring a free-flowing layout and a grand living room with double-height cathedral ceilings and exposed wood beams.
Summertime’s grand interior is filled with charming touches, from recessed niches in the walls to artifacts and textiles, to a custom-built “bibliochaise,” a chair with built-in shelves (filled with internationally-diverse works, of course).
The property is enveloped by two acres of lush gardens and situated walking distance from world-famous beaches such as Calangute. Architectural churches and cathedrals dot the area as well, blending Hindu, Mughal and Portugeuse influences and retaining UNESCO Heritage status. Guests may find it a challenge to leave the property, however, with the pressing question of which pool beckons strongest at the moment: plunge, or infinity.
