What we like about this property

Aah the cool, vintage Hollywood Hills! There are still a few of these little treasures left that haven’t been overrun by mega mansions and we’re happy about this one. Classic, bright and unmolested by time, it’s a unique find.

Description

Settled into the famed Hollywood Hills, this original mid-century modern gem has stood the test of time and has recently been thoroughly but lightly renovated and furnished by award winning architects. No doubt inspired by the great bones and architectural lines, the effect is an authentic and faithful tribute that stays true to character but with great individual style.   Bright and airy, the original post and beam construction and cantilevered  and clerestory window treatments create unique geometry that opens and expands the space.

Rich hardwood floors offset the whitewashed interiors and a great handpicked selection of art and vintage furnishings from the private collection of the owners subtly enhances the aesthetic. The large open plan living and dining area is divided by the two sided fireplace and unites the compact but fully equipped galley kitchen that has been updated with all new appliances and finishes. With two bedrooms and two baths, the house can accommodate up to four guests.

Surrounded by lovely mature terraced gardens with lemon, grapefruit and avocado trees, you’ll be nestled into a tasteful and peaceful hideaway.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

Wifi throughout, central heat and AC, laundry facilities.

AROUND

Just off of Mulholland Drive, and a few minutes to either side of the hill, you can access central Hollywood, the San Fernando valley, the great shops and restaurants of West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and beyond to the coast within a short drive. Downtown is down the hill and a bit further east.

Just perfect for us. We enjoyed everything: the terrace for breakfast, the art deco inside, the furnishing (I just bought the eclypse lamp in Germany). Thank you very much for your hospitality.
We would come back any time.

The dream of the perfect hills stay realized..

This property and home and all its wonderful artistic contents made for a dream stay for us. We fell in love with our morning coffee on the large patio. The outdoor shower amongst the greenery and fruit trees was divine. The home architecture is exciting and makes for a lovely oasis from the city. We hiked Runyon Canyon, Franklin Canyon, Trebek Open Space, and Griffith Park – all close by. A one minute walk up our dead end street is a wonderful overlook of the HOLLYWOOD sign. Uber / Lyft pick-up friendly!

    Dreamy get away…

We stayed at this property for 6 nights. This is a modest but immaculate home, with an amazing attention to detail. The furniture, the works of art, the white walls, the windows, the outdoor shower, citrus trees, birds, quiet, California sun! The master had a very comfortable bed and a lovely view. The 2nd bedroom is gorgeous and the single beds fine as long as you are on the slight side (which our friend was!). We only used it for preparing breakfast and snacks but the kitchen was better stocked than any rental we’ve been too and very nicely designed. The deck was, of course, stunning, and the outdoor shower an amazing feature (on the lower level, so lots of privacy!). It was a great place to get back to at the end of the day but also a nice place to get work done in the peace and quiet (one of us being an academic who had a paper due!).

Wonderful Hideaway in the Hollywood Hills! We loved it!

If you are looking for a really beautiful, cozy but also stylish, clean and tidy hideaway in the Hollywood Hills, we strongly recommend this house. And if you love Mid-Century interior design and architecture – you definitive want to stay there. The house in a relaxed neighborhood (around the corner you can see the Hollywood Sign) is a good starting point to explore L.A. and the area. We stayed there for a week and enjoyed every day! Communication with Julia was always very friendly with very short reaction times. Thank you!

We stayed at Oak Point Drive for one week during June 2015. It was our first visit to Los Angeles and we absolutely loved the location of this house. It is really tucked away in the Hollywood Hills, so felt like we were getting away from the city, even though it was very easy to see the parts of LA that interested us.
The house itself was immaculate with beautiful furniture and high end fixtures and fittings, and is filled with natural light. We are interested in Mid-Centrury design and really enjoyed staying in this house. The terrace area is surrounded by lush plants and felt very private. We enjoyed supper and drinks outside most evenings.
We stayed at the house with our two young boys, aged 2 1/2 and 5. They are very well behaved and already know to remove shoes at the door and not jump on our furniture at home. This is probably not the right house for young kids who like to run riot. If you have well behaved kids, they will love it here.

First let me say that you couldn’t ask for a nicer, more cooperative landlord than Julia; so helpful! OK, the house… is beautiful, quietly elegant, serene, very well kept and clean… and the back terrace is wonderful to sit and watch the hummingbirds. The canyon views are lush and green, the fruit trees full of lemons and grapefruit. Everything you might need is there… including a great hiking guidebook that took us to the top of Mt. Washington in Griffith Park. We’ll be back!!!

Great, scenic, very cool base for exploring LA. Breakfast and happy hours each day on the terrace! Hip mid-century design with all the comforts of home.

This was our second stay in this lovely house and we enjoyed it just as much. The house and garden are great, and the location perfect – very peaceful but with easy access to just about everywhere in LA. We hope to be back next year.

  • Jonathan R., October 28, 2012

The place is wonderful, and it is true what they say that it is 10 minutes from the hotspots while being isolated in a quiet neighborhood with a spectacular view inside the Hills from the patio. There were nights when instead of cruising the Strip, we preferred to enjoy the quiet of the patio and play a game of Vintage Risk (provided among the little care package things in the cupboard).

You’ll have an adventure getting the car into the driveway, especially at night, as the Hills are very steep, but it is doable. We did find T-Mobile has no reception in this little area, but AT&T did fine, and they have a local phone for all your needs anyway.

    “Perfection in the hills…”
My family spent a week here in mid-April, and having always stayed in hotels in LA previously, we were excited about having our own little “home” during this stay…and we could not have been happier. The photos of this property are great, but even so, they don’t do this house justice. Everything about it was perfect…it’s in a quiet neighborhood nestled in the hills, yet within a 5 – 10 minute drive you’re in the middle of all the action in LA. We loved the mid-century modern decor, and the outdoor patio space was simply beautiful, with flowering bushes…even a lemon tree and a grapefruit tree (don’t see much of that back home in NY). The owners provided just about everything one might need, and dealing with Julia (the property manager) could not have been easier (thanks Julia!). Perhaps the best thing I can say is that at the end of our week, we simply did not want to leave. And we’ll definitely be back on our next trip to LA.

Living in this house for a week was an amazing experience. This is THE way to experience LA, and staying in this little gem will be my choice, from now on, over any five star hotel. The House and decor are spot on, and everything is clean, fresh, and well maintained. The logistics of taking possession, interaction with the property manager, all effortless. I hope I have the opportunity to stay there again.

My two kids (ages 12 and 8), boyfriend, and I thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay at this immaculate home. We loved the beautiful amenities, the natural light, the option for patio dining (we spotted a deer on our first night there), the convenience of being so centrally located, and the tranquility of the setting. What a wonderful place to stay for a family vacation! It was very clean (the bamboo flooring was very cool) and we made good use of the kitchen and the laundry machines. Also, we loved having two bathrooms. All four of us give this property our very highest recommendation!

    “Shhh…”
Well I’ll be honest, I didn’t want to write this review, but the owner asked me to and I figured I’d be a nice guy. I was hesitant because I want this home (yes home, its not just a house) to be available every time I go to LA. Its beautiful and meticulous. If you love being surrounded by vintage furniture, quietly in hills but minutes from Hollywood or Studio City, this is the place to be. New appliances all around…I was the first to cook on the new Weber grill. Oh, and the property manager is super professional and a breeze to work with. It will become my second home in LA, that’s for sure.
