We like the crisp clean lines, soaring open plan interiors and unique mid century design by architect Robert Skinner. In an area dominated by log cabins and rustic aesthetics, this is breath of fresh air in this mountain environment.
Snuggled into the mountainside and forests of Big Bear, this strikingly modern home is the only authentic mid-century cabin that California based architect Robert Skinner designed in this mountain resort town just outside of Los Angeles. Centrally located in Moonridge just a mile from Bear Mountain, Snow Summit and the lake, this large post and beam home was completed in the 1960s and retains it’s post war vibe but with beautifully appointed modern updates. The soaring open plan living area features a large cozy fireplace and dining area that seats six. Outfitted with understated stylish furnishings and decor, the interiors are warm and welcoming. With three bedrooms and two recently remodeled baths, the house sleeps up to six. The terrace has dining space for six and includes a hot tub for warming up apres ski.

By far the best house I have stayed at in the Big Bear area. I hope that the next investment at this property is updating the kitchen — it would be great if it matched the good style and decor of the rest of the house.

My husband and I had such a wonderful stay at Niko’s Nido. It was such a unique, special space with an incredible layout. Danielle was very responsive and helpful and the house was so well stocked and furnished – everything we needed and wanted was there. As much as we enjoyed boating and hiking in Big Bear, we looked forward to coming home to cook dinner and spend the night in this beautiful house.

Hard to find places in Big Bear that aren’t shabby. If you care about your place having style and taste this is the answer! Wonderful space. We loved just hanging out at the house. Besides that, it’s convenient to town and Summit– which I believe is less than 2 minutes away! Can’t wait to go back in the summer.

“Special place to stay in Big Bear”
We just got back from a great long weekend at Niko’s Nido. The house is just what you would expect from a mid-century modern situated in the mountains (very cool and cozy at the same time). The rental process was simple and Danielle was fantastic helping us with the details. We even had a clogged kitchen drain that was handled very quickly by Danielle’s handyman. The great room is beautiful, made even more so by a warm fire in the impressive fireplace. The house is also set up fabulously for kids with board games, tv, dvd, and wii. The wifi also works great and there is at&t cell phone service. The location is great for access to the slopes and amenities, but it also gives you the feel of living in a nice quiet mountain neighborhood. It is highly recommended, and we will be back to enjoy it some more.

“All as promised and more!”
Property was as promised, wonderful. Spacious and cozy at the same time. Supposedly a jacuzzi is in the works and that will make it perfect. Great for a romantic escape or a family vacation. Photos were right on. Owner very easy to work with. Centrally located to everything from skiing/tubing to nature hikes, stores nearby and great star gazing from any of the 3 decks. The fireplace and large, comfy couches guarantee fun times. All the amenities you expect and more (wifi, wii, bluray, etc.).

The cabin is beautiful and is just like the pictures. Its in the best location to Snow Summit and Big Bear. This was our first time at Big Bear and first time skiing and we fell in love with the cabin and the area. I highly recommend it staying here! Danielle was very helpful from day one and we felt right at home the minute we opened the doors. Cant wait to re-book and come back!!!
