The Artist Loft was incredible. With its own dock we had a great amount of privacy all while easily accessing all other major areas. Dita helped us with anything we needed and was extremely attentive. We felt as if we were right at home. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to experience Lake Atitlan in style.

For anyone reading this review and considering their options on Lake Atitlan: seriously, look no further. This place is an oasis. The artists loft is one of the coolest places I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying. The views from inside and especially from the balcony are genuinely breathtaking, the apartment itself is modern and comfortable, and Dita and Miguel went above and beyond to make us feel at home. My boyfriend and I woke up both mornings feeling genuinely lucky to have made the choice to book it. We brewed coffee with the delicious beans Dita left for us each morning and sat on the deck overlooking the lake in disbelief that we had found this spot to call home for a few days. For us, one of the best parts was the location. Unlike some places on the lake that are only accessible by boat (keep in mind the public boats only run approx. 30 minutes from 6:30am- 7pm), the loft is along a road, so when we didn’t feel like boating, or went to dinner and wouldn’t make the boat back, we could easily walk/hop in a tuk tuk to cover the short distance between the apartment and the small town of San Marcos. The walk was no more than 20 minutes, and the tuk tuk ride was 15 Q per person (less than $3 per person). The bed is extremely comfortable, the hammock in the living room provides an exceptional relaxation/reading spot with views of the lake, and the super modern kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook with, should you choose to do so. Another really nice feature – there’s an entire closet/room where the door can be locked to serve as a walk-in safe of sorts. There are luggage racks in there as well, so its the perfect spot to dump all of your stuff and then lock the whole thing before heading out for the day. That said, I never once felt the need to lock anything up – it’s a super safe, secure environment that will leave you feeling relaxed and comfortable from beginning to end. Lastly, the pictures are very accurate. I’d just say that even the pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s HUGE. It’s really nice to have so much space to make yourself at home. I honestly can’t say enough nice things about this location, property, and host. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the slice of heaven that is Lake Atitlan. Don’t miss it!

Dita is incredibly service minded and make sure you have everything you need for a wonderful stay at her fantastic place. She made sure we had our privacy at all times but was also around and helped us with every little question we had (booking drivers/private boats, where to go for food etc) and cooked amazing dinners at night. We stayed at the loft which was very clean, nicely organized and larger than I imagined. The view from the porch was breathtaking. Pictures don’t do justice. We had an amazing time and I would not hesitate to stay with Dita again!

Literally a stay of a lifetime. The tranquil serenity, the majestic landscape, the international multitude of a tree, plant and flower varieties, the hand crafted contemporary minimalistic furnishings that the host designed, the Feng shui, airy, natural light imbued architecture (which the host also designed) infused us with peace, relaxation, creativity, and love. We can’t wait to return to our new found nirvana.

Dita wasa great hosts and very responsive to emails. We hit traffic on the way to Pana and didn’t arrive until 9 PM, but Dita was able to help us arrange for a private boat to take us out to the house. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to meet Dita but John was very helpful and a great cook! We had breakfast out on the dock (highly recommend!!!) in the morning and the view was spectacular. The house itself was way bigger than what’s in the pictures and very pleasant. My favorite part is sitting out on the terrace every morning – a great way to start the day!

What a wonderful experience, all around! The location of Dita’s place has stunning volcano and lake views, not to mention the house is immaculate, with beautiful art and high end finishes. But the highlight of our trip wasn’t these things, it was the hospitality of Dita and her family. Do yourself a favor and eat breakfast and dinner on site, as Dita’s cooking is healthy, organic and couldn’t be more delicious. We truly loved every aspect of our stay and are so thankful for the genuine hospitality and kindness we experienced.
This was our best vacation rental stay yet, we very much enjoyed your hospitality and kindness. Look forward to seeing you in the future!

Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Dita. We had help with our luggage to the Artist’s Loft. The place was beautiful with floor to ceiling glass doors that overlook a porch with a view of Lake Atitlan and the volcanoes. This is the most beautiful place we have ever been and the nicest vacation rental. There were fresh flowers in all the rooms and the place is beautifully designed with tasteful furnishings. It was clean and smelled good and the beds were firm. We were able to air dry our towels on a rack outside. We especially liked the porch and having coffee or lunch there and just hanging out. We loved the surrounding grounds with the fruit trees, flowers, birds and lizards. We were glad that we were able to compost during our stay. Our host Dita was very helpful in arranging boat and land transportation and arranging a visit to a weaving cooperative that she founded. Our daughter enjoyed spending time with the hosts’ daughter – something that she normally does not get to do on a vacation. We were able to take a long hike with the help of Miguel, the gardener who took us to his village. We were sad to leave as we feel in love with Guatemala.

Our stay at Dita’s place was perfect! Dita and her family have an incredible property that is accessible to all cities along the bay via public water taxi, tuk tuk, or walking. The view was better than we could have imagined. A true slice of paradise. Dita is more than willing to support her guests in any way she can as she offered suggestions for local dining and shopping as well as arranged convenient transportation. We are already planning our second visit. Thank you, Dita!

This place is a little slice of heaven. It is honestly one of the most incredible places I’ve ever stayed in my life. The views are completely breathtaking, you have a ton of privacy, Dita and John are the sweetest hosts (that can make a mean meal to boot!). We were here during our last weekend in Guatemala after a month and it could not have been a perfect way to end our trip. We honestly stayed at the house the whole time except a few hours to explore close-by San Marcos. My husband and I will never forget this place and are already discussing the necessity of our return!

The loft and view are beyond beautiful. We loved everything about our stay! I highly recommend just getting some groceries in town and using the well-stocked kitchen to cook meals and allow for full enjoyment of the loft and views. We got to meet Dita briefly, and she was great. Miguel, who works at the house, was very helpful and responsive. One of the best places to stay ever!!!

Such a great place to stay right outside San Marcos on the lake. The view was perfect, breathtaking. I love to cook and was pleasantly surprised by how functional and prepared the kitchen was for cooking, mostly just the essentials but far more then I am used to while traveling. The house was so open and beautiful.

It was our first time in San Marcos and at the lake. Truly an amazing experience and a great time. Dita and Michael are special hosts and have a rare and unique property! Will be back in the future I’m sure to spend a bit more time on the lake.
Private Feedback:
Dita & Michael’s artist space is beautiful and a true find! The view and location are amazing. The kitchen is fantastic and we cooked many of our meals in it! I cannot say enough about the space that could do it justice. I would highly recommend anyone coming to this area to stay here!! Nothing – everything was great!!

A 5 star stay from start to finish, this really was the perfect trip! Dita was hugely helpful from the moment we booked including local tips, recommendations and advice. We had the most amazing breakfast on the private dock, relaxed at the nearby infinity swimming pool/ bar and then home cooked dinner on the private terrace (including a delicious birthday cake made by Dita herself!). This was without doubt the best vacation rental stay I have ever had. The views, setting and loft itself are wonderful. Thanks again Dita for everything!

What a wonderful experience! We simply cannot fault the trip. The loft is beautiful, peaceful and the views to lake Atitlan are amazing. Stay here, you will not regret it.
