We love the way this villa blends interior with exterior. Inside opens to outside throughout, and there are terraces for dining, reclining, bathing and even sleeping.
The beautiful exteriors of the Costa Rican rainforest are not only the backdrop but also the focal point of this striking open-plan villa. Every room opens wide, letting outside and inside blend perfectly.
The reason why this blend is so appealing is the location of this stunning villa – on a mountainside overlooking the beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. The property is surrounded in the lush vegetation of the local rainforest, secluded, yet also conveniently located only a few miles from the town of Mal Pais.
The interiors make great use of the abundant light, and blend simple modern with the elegance of old empire – clean lines, polished floors, minimal decor and Balinese furnishings and woodwork throughout.
The spacious master suite has its own sweeping terrace and stunning private indoor/outdoor bathroom. The oversized tiled bathtub, surrounded in views of the forest, is one of the house’s most striking design features.
The al fresco theme continues throughout. The deluxe room also features an intimate indoor/outdoor shower. There’s an open-air living room, a dining room with waterfall and fountain, and a dramatic infinity-edge pool with expansive pool deck and custom spa.
Laundry facilities, satellite TV, and air conditioning.
The house is conveniently located within easy reach of Mal Pais. The town has a laid-back, unpopulated, small village vibe, unlike the adjacent beaches of Santa Teresa and Playa Carmen, which are two of the top surfing destinations in Costa Rica.
Old jungle grows right down to the beach in places, and volcanic deposits form curious shapes along the coast. The local marine life is protected. Rent a boat or take a fishing tour around the Nicoya Peninsula, and you may catch sight of dolphins, manta rays, sea turtles or whales.
Mal Pais is adjacent to the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, where you can take canopy tours or horse tours. And within the park is the beautiful Playa Cuevas beach, one of the area’s best snorkelling spots.
