La Barra B&B Punte del Este, Uruguay
Located in a quiet residential neighborhood just outside of the bustling resort town of Punte del Este, this old building hasn’t so much been renovated as taken on a time trip. Repurposing everything from the corrugated exteriors and grand gates of the facade to the meticulously detailed assortment of salvaged materials, fixtures and furnishings found inside, this is a celebration of the timeless appeal of great design.
It’s no wonder then that the vision of this boutique B&B was conceived by an antiques dealer whose shop down the road is also stocked with treasures.
Arranged around a lovely interior courtyard with a majestic olive tree and dining area, this two storey building features six beautifully conceived rooms of various sizes that share a central sitting room and lounge as well as the communal breakfast room.
Representing several eras of design, the interiors feature the kind of character that can only come from the authentic, weathered patina of age and are paired with a subtle mix of contemporary pieces and modern comforts.
Outside, the patio and dining area are adjacent to a small garden and a petanque court that encourages you to get to know your fellow residents and have some fun.
Atmospheric and impeccably detailed, this boutique hotel’s smart craftsmanship and vintage style are in perfect alignment with modern times.
Communal breakfast is served from 8:30am-4:00pm with daily snacks. WiFi throughout, with TV and DVD players, iPod audio docking systems, minibars, bathrobes and amenities and safe boxes in each room. Optional spa and massage services available. Bicycles available for guest use. Off street parking.
The quiet residential beach town of La Barra sits across the arroyo from it’s glamorous and boisterous neighbor Punte del Este and just fifteen minutes south of the chic international town of José Ignacio which has one of the best beach scenes along with plenty of wild habitat to enjoy.
