What we like about this property

The great design is matched only by the deeply held environmental philosophy and family traditions of this working farm. The attention to detail and the beautiful integration into nature makes this a special place to visit and learn from.

Situated in ancient olive groves and environmentally rich gardens, The Eco Cottages are a rare example of natural beauty, modern country elegance and agrarian life. With the goal of becoming completely environmentally self sufficient, The Eco Cottages are a triumph of design and sustainability and are at the forefront of the ecotourism movement.

Built in the traditional earthen Greek farmhouse style, there are a total of five guest houses, each designed and inspired by a particular season or crop on the farm.

Beautifully designed with the simplest of line and decor, each house is equipped with it’s own kitchen, private bath, and living area with fireplace for complete autonomy and simple luxury.

The main house includes a communal dining and living area and fireplace that is the heartbeat of the property for gatherings.  You won’t want to miss out on participating in the farming activities though, where you can learn to press your own olive oil and wines, feed the animals and pick your lunch from the organic gardens. At the forefront of homeodynamic and organic techniques as well as great environmental design, Eco Cottages are a thrilling combination of the importance of our impact on nature and a great way to enjoy it.

The way of life here has existed for hundreds of years and Eco Cottages provide the opportunity to experience a truly unique vacation while enjoying the rural agricultural lifestyle of southern Greece in comfort and simple luxury.

As a fully organic and environmentally-friendly facility, Eco Cottages employ many different methods throughout the entire property including water recycling, composting, geothermal heating, cooling and power and other responsible property management techniques. During your stay you’ll know that you are limiting your impact on the environment and will also be able to enjoy all the seasonal organic products for your meals. Internet/Wifi, Flat screen TV/CD/DVD and entertainment centers in each house and a library with books and board games in the main house. Direct dial telephone, FAX services. Luxury linens and bathrobes, COCO-MAT natural Mattresses, laundry facilities and daily maid services. Additionally the site hosts various seminars, workshops, group events and activities on a range of topics.

We had a lovely stay at Melody Farms. This unique spot is a labor of love, layered with history and a vision for sustainable living. The buildings are beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable, even in the heat. We took a cooking class and learned how to make moussaka. The owners and their small team of help create a magical atmosphere. The farm is well located near the beach and mountains. We wish we could go back in the fall!

Melody Farms is an incomparable place in beautiful Laconia, Greece. My 3 year old daughter and I had the most wonderful stay here during our first trip to Greece. We stayed in the Sunflower House which was as beautiful as pictured. The house is carefully designed, ecological, cool and inviting even in the August heat. The olive farm is a place of serenity. We subscribed for breakfast and dinner daily and the farm-to-table regional foods were super delicious. We were invited by the wonderful staff to join in feeding the sheep, goats, rescued horses, chickens, ducks, rabbits, puppies, and kittens every morning. For a city child, my daughter found herself completely smitten by one sweet new kitten. Although we loved the animals, they are definitely not front in center at the farms, it is the olive trees that fill the view in every direction.

At host Frangikos’ advice, we spent an afternoon at Monmevassia, an afternoon at the Diros Caves and Mani Peninsula beaches, and an afternoon above Sparta in the beautiful ruins at Mystras. There were dozens of other day trips from the Farm. It would also be completely wonderful to spend the entire vacation on the farm itself harvesting olives in the winter. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating with a wealth of regional knowledge and stories to share.

I would recommend Eumelia Farms without hesitation!
