A curious and chic concoction of style and substance, the whimsical retro-pop inspired interior design is a nice contrast with the sedate structural quality of the historic building. It’s fun, chic and very imaginative.
Retro Picard Coucy-le-Château, Picardie, France
A clever and inspired re-imagination of a traditional home, this historic residence has been transformed into a stylish and playful bed and breakfast that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Located in the historically significant northern regions that saw famous battles during WW1, the house is also situated within the outer castle walls of the fortified village.
With a meticulous eye for detail and design, the owners have assembled and applied an unusual and very chic mix of modern era furnishings, colors and vintage elements. With a total of three suites, the house can accommodate six guests and you’ll have a fun selection of styles and character to choose from. The attic has been transformed into a bright and modern suite with space for two to lounge as well as dine in. The downstairs bedroom is more understated and warm while the third is a comical homage of color and 1970s inspired pop art.
A fresh breakfast of local homemade goodies is served every morning in the eat in kitchen or out in the garden where you can enjoy the quiet village life.
Concierge services, breakfast served daily in room, in the dining area or in the garden. Wifi throughout, iMAC computer, TV/DVD, vintage Teppaz turntable with vinyl records, games and books. Housekeeping and organic personal care products.
Just over an hour north of Paris, the Aisne and Chemin Des Dames region was of special historic significance in WW1 and still retains the charming rural village life that wasn’t destroyed. The fortified village and castle Enguerrand date back to the 1st century and are a fascinating visit. Soissons and Chauny are nearby and you are within a short drive to Reims.
