What we like about this property

We like the rustic simplicity and the serene romantic vibe here. The thorough but subtle restoration has left all of the original character and charm creating a sweet and chic update.

Description

Located up a windy quiet mountain road in the small village of Chateauneuf Villevielle, this beautifully restored seventeenth century bergerie is close enough to the action of the Riviera but a calm and peaceful alternative that feels like home. Long on charm, character and earthy sophistication, the laid back style combines a blend of contemporary country design with Asian influences with furnishings and decor from around the world.

The old stone farmhouse’s vaulted ceilings and original structural characteristics have been retained and incorporated seamlessly with newer but rustic finishes that complement the authentic character of the house. The main lounge and indoor dining area are under the dramatic arched stone interiors where you can sit fireside and enjoy drinks and delicious Table d’Hotes prepared by your hosts from locally sourced products.

Each of the four junior suites are private hideaways featuring en suite baths, sitting areas, fireplaces and private entrances and are designed with chic individual style. There are lovely gardens with fig and olive trees and a pool for cooling off on a summer day. This B&B offers a peaceful and romantic getaway and an authentic French country experience.

We had the pleasure to stay at La Parare for 4 magical days.  Sydney and Karin are amazing hosts and have created a little sanctuary nestled in the hills of Provence. The house is lovely, the grounds are beautiful and their care and attention is remarkable.  We were lucky enough to start our stay with a home cooked meal by Sydney with all the other guests ( this happens once a week and is SO WORTH IT!). We were spoiled every morning with their amazing breakfast.  Their knowledge of the region and their help on what to do and where to go is also excellent. Lastly, the room was lovely, quiet and serene- We really felt so relaxed and calm and slept like logs ;).  All this to say, If you have a chance to go visit La Parare- TAKE IT!

We loved our weekend at La Parare, a rustic stone farmhouse renovated as a small hotel set in a lovely garden in the hills behind Nice. Our comfortable, quiet bedroom had mesmerizing views over a deep valley to the shimmering Cote D’Azur. Sydney and Karen were delightful and professional hosts, and made every effort to ensure our enjoyment of our stay with them. Breakfasts were served at our choice of time, and were delicious: fresh fruit compote and yoghurt, homemade breads and brioche with jams made by Karen, and eggs and pancakes to order. We sat out under the olive trees in warm Autumn sunshine, with the sound of water trickling through the limestone of the swimming pool, enjoying second cups of hot coffee served with a big jug of steaming milk. We felt extremely well looked after. La Parare is an authentically welcoming place. As a guest it was a great pleasure to feel so personally welcome and we hope to return. We warmly recommend this wonderful small hotel.

My husband and I spent an autumn weekend at La Parare and can’t speak highly enough of our experience. Set high in the hills behind Nice, the rustic stone buildings have been renovated to create very comfortable guest rooms and bathrooms, all set in a simple and lovely garden with serene views to the distant Cote D’Azur. Karin and Sydney are warm, professional hosts who made every effort to see we had what we needed to enjoy our time there, including making local restaurant reservations for us. Breakfasts were a treat, with home made breads and pastries, fresh fruit compote and yogurt, and eggs and pancakes cooked to order, served outside in the warm sun under olive trees. Both hosts are cooks, and the quality of the food was exceptional. And great coffee served with a big jug of steaming milk! There are fine walks near the hotel in the hills. We had a wonderful time, and hope to return.
