This sprawling ranch just south of Abilene is the collaborative effort of a couple whose combined skills of hospitality, cooking, photography, and DIY grit culminated in a vacation concept that celebrates delicious simplicity.
Set on over three hundred acres of Texas prairie, this family-run boutique hotel was the result of a shared vision and passion for the simple life and a desire to escape the city and create an intimate space to bring people together.
Beginning with the early 19th century stone farmhouse, the property was restored and developed initially as a personal homestead and small restaurant. Expanding on the idea, in 2012 they debuted an intimate B&B of just five rooms constructed of a flat-roofed corrugated tin and wood structure that's a modern departure in tone and style from the historic farmhouse. Each of the rooms are sleek and simple with wood floors, high ceilings, and sliding glass doors that open out to the vast prairie. Minimalist and modern, the contemporary design combined with the rural aesthetic create an atmosphere of rustic elegance.
The restaurant in the farmhouse serves award-winning contemporary cuisine with locally sourced ingredients and rotating seasonal menus and is considered one of the best in all of Texas.
With hundreds of acres of land to stretch out in, you can enjoy the common areas and poolside lounge, ramble through the orchards and organic gardens, and commune with the animals in this peaceful backcountry paradise.
OUTSIDE OF ABILENE
Situated outside the small town of Valera and an hour south of Abilene, you're a few miles from Flat Rock Park and Hords Creek Lake and three hours to Dallas, Austin and San Antonio. Wide open spaces are yours here.
