Global in flavor and laid-back by design, this small luxury hotel in the Yucatan feels like you’re visiting with friends. We love the mix of vintage and flea market finds that highlight its Mexican heritage and the thoughtful hospitality that makes you feel right at home.
Located just a few minutes from the Caribbean shorelines of Playa del Carmen, this intimate luxury hotel in Yucatan is the brainchild of globe trotting owners Alexis and Angie who have crafted a unique, down to earth bed and breakfast informed by not only their world travels, but the history and local culture of Mexico.
With just nine rooms, the hotel has the intimacy of a private home and is furnished and decorated with an eclectic array of vintage finds from the haciendas and estates of the Yucatan and flea markets around the country.
Perched at the top of the hotel, the largest room is a private escape that captures the light and a bit of the Caribbean from the private terrace.
There are many inviting nooks throughout the hotel designed for relaxing, unplugged time alone as well as the Cocina Loft which offers cozy sitting areas among leafy tropical gardens where you’ll find your hosts cooking and interacting with guests to offer delicious rotating dishes for breakfast.
Breakfast served daily with complimentary wine and beer served in the afternoons. Touring services available. Wi-Fi throughout, housekeeping and laundry facilities. Organic Yucherbal toiletries, complimentary bottled water. Library, bicycles for guest use, beach kits with towels, umbrellas and coolers, safe-deposit box. Free on site parking.
Set along the Yucatan Peninsula’s Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen’s Caribbean shoreline and calm warm waters are just a two minute walk from the hotel. Known for its lively nightlife and bustling tourist center, the neighborhood nearest to the hotel is quieter with excellent restaurants and a more authentic feel. Don’t miss an excursion to the nearby island of Cozumel or day-trips to Tulúm and Coba where you can marvel at the archaeological treasures, climb the tallest Mayan pyramid in Mexico, and swim in the secluded and sacred cenote swimming holes. The stunning Mayan city and UNESCO site of Chichén Itzá is a must see with temples and pyramids dating back to the 1st century and the 75-foot pyramid constructed in the 11th century. Cancun is an hour north.
Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Nearest Airport: Cancun International (55km)
BEST TIME TO VISIT: October through May for the best weather but the hotel is a nice year-round visit.
