This is the kind of barefoot luxury we like: a wild island paradise where you can grab something delicious from a tree, wander and explore. With a lovely selection of simple and chic handmade cottages to choose from, you can indulge your wild side in a charming and very private hideaway. Glamping, island style.
Located on the wild east coast of Dominica, an island between Guadeloupe and Martinique, this sustainable eco-village was over seven years in the making. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of pristine tropical forests just beneath the three Pitons National Park, this fertile and protected valley is home to a unique and newly restored plantation with a collection of nine cottages and villas.
Spanning over twenty acres, the lodge is nestled into the forest along the Taberi River facing the private Bout Sable beach where sea turtles come to nest each year.
Mixing agriculture and eco-tourism, the project was designed to preserve the authentic plantation atmosphere along with a sustainable and environmentally friendly retreat that celebrates nature and the island environment. A labor of love, each of the houses were designed and handmade by the owners using traditional building techniques and raw natural materials including local stone and hardwood. Simple, spacious and harmonious, the self-catering residences include a safari glamping tent, stone cottages and villas, each with unique personality and eclectic design created to harmonize with the environment. A great combination of glamping and cabin rentals.
The on site restaurant serves local cuisine prepared with a French touch under a veranda facing the river and includes a bar and BBQ area.
Deeply passionate and involved with the island's development and culture, the owners have created a place of authentic beauty where nature is luxury.

Clearly divided between east and west, the island's industrial zone and deep water port of the capital of Rouseau is in stark contrast to the rural east coast and is within an hour drive.
