Built high on a mountaintop overlooking the vast canyons and rolling countryside of the Tiber River valley below, this 12th-century hilltop town is a jewel that will transport you far back in time. Dating back to the 14th century, the home is perched atop ancient Etruscan caves and tombs and a beautiful Roman water cistern. A dramatic and fascinating location, the villa retains all of its charm and personality from the Middle Ages and is an affectionate homage to a town that has survived tumultuous history and several natural disasters. The restoration was a challenging exercise of careful preservation to retain the spirit and enduring beauty of the region while delivering the home to its rightful place in the modern world.

Accessible only by its pedestrian bridge, the Civita di Bagnoregio is a spectacular location, rich with history. Perched on a hilltop it's a unique world all its own but within close proximity to both Tuscany and Umbria. With its narrow streets and small town life, most of the local families have been here for generations and will graciously share their knowledge, folklore and great food.
Be sure to check out the hidden Roman and Etruscan era cellars and tunnels below the city. Perugia is worth the hour and a half drive with its mix of ancient and contemporary culture. Just a half hour south of Orvieto and west of Todi, be sure to visit the surrounding countryside for the Etruscan ruins of Tarquinia, and Lake Bolsena where you can swim and rent a boat for a day on the water. Don't miss a visit to the glorious historical gardens of Villa Lante and Bomarzo.
