The couple who own this vacation rental in the Netherlands spent many years living on the Caribbean island of Curacao, and have brought that relaxed island vibe to this home.

The farmhouse sits on an expanse of farmland in the Dutch province of Friesland, retaining its original character on the outside while its interiors have a cool, modern, bright and airy feel. 

We love the simple white color palette, and the whimsical, eclectic furnishings - from the free-standing wood stove in the living room to the mixed wood and tile kitchen floor, and the church bench that runs alongside the dining table. Other cool features include the elevated tub in the bathroom and the beautiful vaulted ceilings.

With its three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this is an ideal home for a family. The fully-equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking and communal dining, while the large garden has fruit trees and loads of space for children to play. There's also a private terrace, with an outdoor stove, which is perfect for idling away the hours. 

This a great location for parties, weddings, and other events. For those occasions, the owners open the Sip & Clara pop-up store, which is full of beautiful interior objects and vintage furnishings, inspired by the decor of the farm.

FRIESLAND

The house is located in the southwest corner of Friesland, and is surrounded by the woods of Gaasterland, Frisian lakes and historical towns like Sloten and Hindeloopen. The surroundings are great for exploring by boat or bicycle, and the owners highly recommend exploring the local countryside and packing a picnic.
