Cycladic Style With A Worldly Point Of View

This boutique hotel in Crete is a great find. Located in the north of the island, it's well situated for making the most of the island, but far from the world of traditional resort tourism. It's also a great space - a combination of elegant white Cycladic style with eclectic world decor.

Opened in 2016 by a globe-trotting couple who fell in love with the island's blue skies and relaxed lifestyle, they stumbled upon a little village 2km inland from the sea. They found a plot of land on a hillside, on which were two derelict Cyclades-style cottages that had previously been used as a hotel.

They renovated the buildings, creating an authentic Greek hotel with a modern twist. They gave it a cool color palette and filled it with eclectic objects found in their travels, giving the space a relaxed but very personal feel.

Travelers wanting to get away from the crowds and experience the small village lifestyle will find its location very appealing. The hotel is located in Koutouloufari, which has charming tavernas and shops. It's the best of both worlds, a relaxed hillside location with stunning views of the ocean and easy access to the coast, with all of its well-known tourist spots and entertainment.

The hotel is made up of four autonomous apartments and one room, all of which have either a balcony or a terrace leading into the garden. Each has a bathroom, and the apartments all have small kitchens.

If you're looking for a boutique hotel in Crete that can accommodate up to 12 guests (or just two), this a great find.

NORTHERN CRETE

The hotel is located a few minutes on foot from the village of Koutouloufari in northern Crete, 20 minutes by car from Heraklion and 30 minutes from Agios Nikolaos. It's a charming village with shops and taverns, great food and, say the owners, the atmosphere of the movie Mamma Mia. The owners recommend a car for exploring the island.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

May to September, but the climate is excellent all year round. The summer months in Crete are busy, but the beaches are largely deserted in May and October, making them very pleasant months for visiting the island. Easter and the weeks leading up to Christmas are great times to visit.

Overview	The hotel is self-catering, but a Cretan breakfast is available on request with fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, Cretan bread, local honey, Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts, fresh Greek cheese like feta and graviera, olives and small tomatoes. The price is €25 per room (for two guests). There is also a bar that serves drinks, coffee and sundowners during the day.
