<h2 id="splashytechsavvysuiterooftoppoolminutesfromipanema">Splashy Tech-Savvy Suite &amp; Rooftop Pool Minutes from Ipanema</h2>
<p>Plant-filled and eye-popping, this hip urban studio is a quick walk from Ipanema Beach in Rio’s Zona Sul. Settle into designer furnishings by Jorge Zalszupin, Guilherme Wentz, Vinicius Siega, and Jader Almeida, or cop a spot amid the plants on the mural-splashed patio. Neon lights and vivid pop art illuminate the space and voice commands control the lighting and privacy. Designed as an intimate spot for close couples or singles who don’t mind a transparent, in-room bathroom, albeit one that’s urban, sleek and stylish, the studio is a hi-tech, high-design haven. A raw wood galley kitchen and built-in office island offset the plush queen bed and lounge space.</p>
<p>One of several units in a newly constructed, ultra-contemporary building, the studio has its own louvered, greenhouse-styled balcony, and shares a patio, a common living area, a laundry set up, parking garage and a well-greened rooftop pool space, surrounded by chaises and sunbeds with cool city views and access to Rio’s most iconic beach.</p>

<h3 id="around">Around</h3>
<p>Located on a quiet street off the main thoroughfare, but only a few minutes’ walk to both the beach and the nearest metro, this is a sweet spot for Ipanema beachgoers and digital nomads who will find plenty of spaces for both work and play. The beach at Ipanema is every bit the Bossa Nova dreamscape the classic song describes, and the songwriter Antônio Carlos Jobim once even lived in the same location as this newly built building, grabbing inspiration in the sands’ bronzed beauties. Ipanema Beach offers a vibrant mosaic of culture and flavor, with cafes and kaleidoscope markets, street music and vendors, and plenty of pulsating bars and clubs.</p>
<p>A waterfront bike path extends the full length of the dazzling beach, and the city’s iconic Sugarloaf Mountain is visible from the building. The Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon has a five-mile circuit around it, for walking or cycling the wildlife-filled wetland. One vast arc of sun-soaked sand, Ipanema Beach is marked by posts that define certain sections of it. Post 9 is reputedly the spot for Rio’s prettiest of pretty people—a tangle of lithe, bronzed bodies of all shapes, forms, and sizes. A mecca for the city’s gay community, the beach was also once home to hippies, radicals and bohemians whose modern-day counterparts tend to congregate at the Ceméterio dos Elefantes.</p>
<p>Rio’s most popular surf spot is Arpoador, between Ipanema and Copacabana Beaches, and the Leblon section of the beach is the most family friendly. Post 10 is where the sporty types meet, a sand court site for pick-up volleyball matches and soccer games and <em>frescobol</em>, or beach tennis. Swim with caution all along the iconic sandy stretch as <em>Ipanema</em> is an indigenous term for “dangerous waters” and the ocean’s strong undertow and crashing waves are to be respected. Swim only in marked areas where the locals dive in.</p>

The Masseria ai Pini is an exclusive and private holiday villa with pool in the heart of Apulia near the Adriatic sea. Offering slow and modern country life, absolute privacy for four plus two people.

<h2 id="coastalcountryvillainthetreesbythesea">Coastal Country Villa in the Trees by the Sea</h2>
<p>This vividly whitewashed outpost makes a bold statement in the coastal backcountry of Puglia. Like the traditional <em>masseria</em> it is, the 150+-year-old farmstead stands solidly on a hectare thick with olive groves and fragrant stands of pine, its crenellated profile echoing ancient architectural influences. More than 100 trees insulate the property—figs, citrus, almond, plum and pear, plus oleander, laurel, mulberry and caper and the aromatic pines that give the property its name and scent its sunny coastal air.</p>
<p>Historical origins can be seen in the dining room’s barrel-vaulted ceiling and the kitchen’s high, star-shaped vaults as well as in the spare white bedrooms’ soaring vaults, thick farmhouse walls, and classic stone floors. An upper-level office space can be converted into an additional bedroom.</p>
<p>Outside, a spacious courtyard extends the living space, bringing the property into the era of alfresco holidays and outdoor dining and lounging. A bright blue pool sits below the home, enclosed in stone and lined with loungers, umbrellas and an outdoor shower, while rooftop terraces extend up top, ideal for yoga or stretching out for cocktail hour, with views out to sea, only six kilometers away.</p>
<h3 id="around">Around</h3>
<p>Located down a country road that winds through classic olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees, this strong country <em>masseria</em> is only two kilometers from the village of San Vito dei Normanni, which is minutes from the Adriatic Sea. A great place to unplug and unwind, the villa offers privacy on a fertile hectare, with a spacious swimming pool and courtyard. In San Vito, arms’ width streets reveal classic Italian village churches, palazzi and even a castle along with a smattering of mom-and-pop cafes, bars, and restaurants. Ancient archeological finds have put the small city on the map, dating it back to 1800 BC, though the existing buildings are mostly medieval to Baroque. A Norman tower was the first part of the city’s dominating castle to be erected (hence the Normanni part of St. Vito’s name), and the Castello’s square tower is distinctive. An olive oil museum details the region’s agricultural legacy, and with the sea only minutes away, beach time can be anytime. </p>
<p>Exploration of the Torre Guaceto Protected Marine Park is easy from San Vito. And this being Puglia, inland exploration is a must. Head to Alberobello, Locorotondo, or Ostuni for thousands of preserved trulli and whitewashed hilltop villages in landscapes rich with wine, olive oil and farm production. The nearby village of Carovigno offers a huge castle and dozens of towers dating from its days as a thriving Roman port and the adjacent, coastal Torre Santa Sabina tower stands inside another coastal nature preserve. Further afield, hit the duo of Polignano a Mare and Monopoli for a day trip of excellent sightseeing and fantastic waterfront food options.</p>

<p>A bright modernization of a mid-19th century Puglian <em>masseria</em>, this reimagined country villa shines like a diamond from its rough, olive- and pine-blanketed coastal back country lot, only six kilometers from the sea.</p>

Named for the Corsican word meaning both “little plot of land” and “a little crazy,” this barn is anything but. Striking views spin 360 degrees from wide windows and multiple decks, showcasing the Isle of Beauty’s breathtakingly wild, rugged landscape. The barn’s interiors feature vintage and original design pieces, including the rosewood Ole Wansher dining table that dates back to the 1960s, and a buffet from the 17th century. Pendant lamps, books, artworks and plants dress up the practically designed, open-plan common spaces, and a pool overlooks the distant mountain silhouettes and the maquis, the island’s native shrubbery, on the surrounding slopes. Sliding doors and oversized windows opening onto elevated terraces give the home a little bit of a treehouse vibe and blur the boundaries between indoors and out. Just outside the door of the home, there’s a ridge path for walking and jogging. Rolling and mostly shady, it’s perfect for a quick bit of exercise followed by a jump in the pool. For longer outings, opt to go to the right outside of the home, taking the ridge path leading to Chevanu Beach and continuing across the bay to the Bruzzi Loop Path, a well-loved regional hike that climbs past the area’s trademark tafoni, or granite boulder fields and stacks. Wild creeks spill down from the mountains as you make your way around the Bruzzi loop, and there’s a beautiful red sand beach among the more classic white sands, the color a unique phenomenon that results from a concentration of single cell organisms. Snorkeling the peninsula’s bays is possible. Another strenuous hike climbs to the notable Uomo di Cagna a rocky pinnacle with a human likeness. Kitesurfers should head to the Bay of Figari, or seek out a guide on Balistra Beach, where there’s also a sweet little beer and burger shack. If the wind is right, Muchju Biancu Beach is idyllic for kite surfers, but regardless of the elements, it is among southern Corsica’s prettiest beaches and rarely crowded, given its off-the-beaten path access down a narrow path, a quick drive from the home. The hotel consists of two large villas that sit directly on the beach, and is surrounded by a large tropical garden with various dining areas and sun decks. There is a massage hut on the beach, as well as an open-air cinema and a separate recreation area for volleyball, boules and ladder golf.Asili House has four beautifully furnished bedrooms named after the elements; Moto meaning fire, Hewa meaning air, Dunia meaning earth and Maji meaning water in Kiswahili. All rooms feature an en-suite bathroom with a bath, plus private verandahs or balconies.A tropical garden surrounds the house and merges into the spacious lounge and dining area where guests can enjoy meals. The pool, with its palm-tree island, invites guests to relax and offers both sea and beach views. There are al-fresco bathrooms with bath and rain showers.Villa Kidosho has two sea-view suites, and a lounge with dining and sitting areas, as well as huge bathrooms with shower, bath tubs and separate toilets. There are large private terraces with sun beds, swinging beds and hammocks. The house has its own large infinity pool with Jacuzzi jets, leading out to the ocean from the terrace. ADDITIONAL FEATURESWater, soft drinks, tea and coffee is provided, and a TV and DVD player is available on request. The in-house chef will spoil guests with traditional Kiswahili cuisine, with freshly caught seafood or with request meals at a time that suits them. <p>A tropical garden surrounds the house and merges into the spacious lounge and dining area where guests can enjoy meals. The pool, with its palm-tree island, invites guests to relax and offers both sea and beach views. There are alfresco bathrooms with bath and rain showers.</p>
<p>Villa Kidosho has two king-sized seaview suites, Suite Jua (Sun Suite) and Suite Mwezi (Moon Suite), with lounge, dining and sitting areas, as well as huge bathrooms with shower, bath tubs and separate toilets. There are large private terraces with sun beds, swinging beds and hammocks. The house has its own large infinity pool with Jacuzzi jets, leading out to the ocean from the terrace.</p>
<h3 id="additionalfeatures">Additional features</h3>
<p>Water, soft drinks, tea and coffee is provided, and a TV and DVD player is available on request.&nbsp;The in-house chef will spoil guests with traditional Kiswahili cuisine, with freshly caught seafood or with request meals at a time that suits them. Guests will also have a personal butler at their disposal.&nbsp;Note: Most travelers to Zanzibar require a visa, available in advance, so as not to be caught up in the tourist traffic at the airport.</p>
<h3 id="around">Around</h3>
<p>Opposite to the hotel, guests will find an offshore sand bar with white sand and a magnificent snorkelling area to reach on foot at low tide. A variety of activities for all age groups can be enjoyed, from volleyball, boule and beach ball or cross golf. Guests can also visit the open-air-cinema or enjoy a book at the library’s selection of paperback books in German and English.&nbsp;Various tours and attractions can be visited and an island tour can also be arranged.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The hotel is located on the edge of an authentic Swahili fishing village, with a variety of informal restaurants within easy walking distance.</p>
