This detached stone house for 2-3 people is situated on the edge of a traditional mountain village in the Southern Peloponnese with stunning views to the mountains and sea. Sensitively restored to a high standard by a creative couple with design backgrounds, the house is light and spacious whilst retaining its authentic traditional features.
The front hallway with traditional whitewashed walls leads to the bathroom and two bedrooms. The main bedroom has air conditioning, a traditional raised platform for the double bed with high quality mattress,and a built-in wardrobe. French windows lead out onto the terrace with views across the valley. The second bedroom (suitable for one) has a raised platform with a single bed with high quality mattress.
Stairs lead up to a large, airy, fully-equipped kitchen/dining/sitting room with traditional wood ceiling and floors. French windows lead out onto a paved terrace and verandah facing both south and west.
The verandah was built around an old olive tree which appears to grow up through the floorboards. There is a rattan sofa and two armchairs for relaxing on the verandah, and marble-topped tables for meals.
The spacious terraced garden is very private, with ample places to sit in the sun or shade. There are olive, mulberry and almond trees, scented jasmines, lavender, rosemary and a wisteria-clad pavilion where you can lie out and relax. An outdoor kitchen with marble sink and worktop is ideal for preparing meals in the garden. The garden also has a shower to cool you off. Good quality wooden loungers and slatted deckchairs and a cushioned L-shaped seating area are provided.
The approach to the house is a 2 minute walk from the car parking area down a quiet lane to the edge of the village – only wide enough for people, donkeys, and the occasional flock of sheep!
The tranquil atmosphere and minimalist style of the house makes this the perfect place to unwind. It is a 15 minute scenic drive to Kardamyli’s beaches, shops and tavernas. House of Baba Spiros is a 45 minutes from Kalamata airport and a 3 hour drive from Athens airport.
