The Quinta was designed by architecture design ensemble Studio ArTe.  The ambiance created is rather special, very Portuguese and blended with Moroccan touches. The Quinta has a living space of approx. 220 m2, divided over 2 floors and is located on the hill side of Canine, the northern part of Silves town. This area is known for its orange orchards and is close to the Moorish Castle.

The Quinta is situated on a private property of approx. 6 hectares and has spectacular views on the (illuminated) castle of Silves. The view at night on the castle is like looking back into ancient times. The Quinta itself is uniquely furnished and has a special Portuguese / Mediterranean Moroccan ambient but even some elements of vintage James Bond movies can be found back in the styling.  It is all integrated with modern comforts. The Quinta is mentioned as a 5 star villa.

The design combines the typical house from a hot, dry climate with the possibilities of modern eco-technology. The architecture makes use of the basic forces: sun, earth, air and water.

Each interior area features an equivalent external one, extending the habitable space towards the outside. There are sun beds which invite to you to enjoy yourself and rest. The natural materials like clay, lime, wood and the colours of the house make it integrate with the surroundings. It resembles a Mediterranean oasis in the Atlantic.

The house is the result of a cave transformed into house, formulated by means of 3 volcanic stone vaults.

The house is partially buried with north facing patios and a large horseshoe terrace-garden facing south, protected from the direct sun by wooden plates.

It has a sanctuary-like atmosphere. The vaults that make up the axis of the construction and the excavation create a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Relaxation is guaranteed as much in the interior as in the terrace-garden. You can see the sea in the distance.

The aim of this house is to design a layout in the ground based on the radial structure of the stone walls which create it and to take advantage of the surroundings visually.

The house is organised like a succession of rooms which connect and relate to the central patio, which is used to distribute, ventilate and provide light. This layout encourages a close relationship between the occupants. The scent of the Rosemary planted on its green roof impregnates the entire house.

The proposal is based on a local place. It is a metaphor of a town on a small scale: with its square, trees, the streets around the square.

The chimneys have a system of natural refrigeration taking advantage of the trade winds. The colour and warmth of the pumice stone evoke the earth element. The U shaped layout of the house, set around a fountain and an olive tree, invites you to live in it, to find yourself and lose yourself simultaneously. The barbecue will offer you unforgettable moments.

The house seeks comfort through the relation with the outside space, the views and the landscape. It is characterized by a pyramid that crowns the structure symbolizing the sun, the light and energy.

The house is a parallelpipedon shape (a prism) facing South with a North patio. The pumice, the basalt and the wood are omnipresent. The house welcomes you inside its strong walls and it invites you to enjoy its coolness and silence. It has an inner patio with a pond where you can forget the world. There is also a front porch with some steps where you can sunbathe, read or relax watching the sea.

Two natural elements (sun and wind) have influenced the design of the house – its south facing layout and protection by burying the house partially in the hillside.

Its name indicates its basic characteristic – a stream that cuts through the house from the garden, crossing the hall and ending at a pool that borders the wooden sun terrace. From here you can see the sea, the volcano and enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The rooms, located in a semi-buried part of the house, guarantee low temperatures and tremendous peace. When you open the huge French windows, the garden, the lounge and the terrace create a unique, magical space.

The basis of the project is to consider the house as a thermodynamic machine that takes advantage of the bio climate inside.

It is an example of standardization and price reduction combined with good results. Its exterior does not prepare you for the surprise that awaits you inside. It is raised above the ground, with an inner garden that goes around the house and warm in spite of the sandwich panel that forms its walls. With a magnificent terrace that looks out towards the Atlantic and is perfect for enjoying the sunsets.

The basic principle used was that of inhabiting bioclimatic dwellings and making them form a part of the human environment.

It comprises 2 displaced rectangular squares set against a card shaped wall that lodges the infrastructure and services.

An open plan house, without inner walls and a lower floor open to the landscape, a sheet of water that gives life to the lounge and a solarium that extends it. It is a boat beached facing the sea with many roofs opened towards different horizons, between the Teide and the sea.

The trade winds are the essence of this house. They create its shape, energy and coolness and make the scent of the garden fill the air: The four elements are present as the inspiration for different systems.

The house boasts beautiful views and a large common meeting area. It is surrounded by terraces including a private one for the bedrooms on the upper level. The sleeping area and the common area are in two independent adjacent buildings which dissociate their uses. Perfect for a few days rest.
