One of the most luxurious of the Kyoto rentals in our collection, Gion Shinmonzen is the embodiment of classical Kyoto architecture. The home is decorated throughout with Japanese antiques and still has the original open-beam ceiling and kaidan-dansu (chest built into the stairs).

A 2-story home ideally located on Kyoto’s “Art Street”, Gion Shinmonzen has been sensitively upgraded for modern travelers. New additions include radiant in-floor heating, a cedar bath and rainshower, and handmade Shigaraki-ware sinks in the washrooms.
