The host’s description of the house and property matches its reality. But the pictures cannot prepare you for the grandeur of the setting. It is jaw-droppingly beautiful. The house is a transparent gem that opens itself to the landscape by day and the sky by night. The spareness of the house is balm to a cluttered mind. We were so stunned by the place that it took us a while to notice a very good bottle of champagne waiting for us on the counter, along with delicious, healthful snacks. There were enough breakfast fixings to last us a week. Carol was a perfectly responsive and gracious host. Last and not least, the radiant heating was a marvel. We were never cold, especially our feet. I am so glad we found this place. We’ll be back.

Worth every penny. Total magic. I lived in Japan for a decade so this kind of minimal, simple, beautiful and functional architecture hits home. Spent the weekend lazily drinking fresh coffee, reading books, watching hawks swoop and deer prance by. The house and properly is completely private. The closest houses are almost entirely out of sight. The view is spectacular and the stars cascade to the horizon at night. You can hike down the hill in front of the house, lie out on a rock outcropping and watch satellites and shooting stars until you fall asleep, the wine runs out, or both. The coast and HWY1 is just a short drive down breathtaking back roads. There are redwood forests nearby. Lots of great little hikes. And some delicious restaurants all within a short drive. But I’d recommend stocking up beforehand, and planning on a few supremely lazy days, fully enjoying the peace and quiet of this great little secret.

First interior shot…anyone else notice the blur of the cat jumping from the counter to the top of the chair?
