Wee Housie, Inverness, California

This 800 square ft. redwood 1917 cabin is virtually unchanged from its original plan, and is a rare example of an “unimproved” all-redwood cabin/small house in the charming village of Inverness, nestled between Tomales Bay and Point Reyes National Park. It has been gently restored into a romantic rustic cabin, and retains all the original redwood planking, half doors, wobbly glass in the windows, and the open fireplace (wood provided!)
There is a master bedroom with canopied queen bed, and a closed-in sleeping porch with 2 singles that can be converted to a king. There is one bathroom with tub/shower and an outside shower for the adventurous.
Hot water is now on-demand and, in addition to the fireplace, we have added forced-air heating to take the chill off when you arrive and are waiting for the (very efficient) traditional fireplace to warm the heart of the cabin.
The cabin is ideally located 5 minutes from Inverness village center and the spectacular beaches of Tomales Bay State Park.
10 minute drive to the town of Point Reyes Station, the epicenter of exceptional California organic food, wine, cheese and restaurants; Cow Girl Creamery, Hog Island Oysters, Marin Sun Farms, Osteria Stellina etc. Live music at the Dance Palace.
San Francisco and Wine Country are a little over an hour away by car.
The owner is an architectural photographer, and his architect clients who have seen the cabin have been stunned by its charm and authenticity.

The cottage is a gem — a perfect blend of quaint and comfortable. We assumed the online photos were “generous” in their depiction of the cottage, we found them to be remarkably accurate especially in letting you feel the vibe of the cottage.
While the house is indeed “wee” — it is amply stocked with high quality linens, kitchenware, WiFi (for those who can’t stay away from email or like to listen to Pandora) and a variety of nooks and crannies to play board games (also supplied) and enjoy the quiet. The hot tub was clean, well heated and the adjacent shower perfect for rinsing off. All of this is made all the more enjoyable by the fact that Mark makes sure that you have all the information you need for your stay, allowing for a totally stress-free rental.
We brought our pup who enjoyed the backyard. As it is securely fenced, we were able to let him wander around and find his own favorite perch as well.
Convenient to “town” and to the parks and beaches, the cottage is perfectly located. Secluded but not too remote.
For a single couple, a family or good friends who want a perfect place to explore the environs or just hang out, the Wee Housie is a truly a gem!
We will be back!

I was lucky enough to have my son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Sue ask me to join them for three days and visit Pt. Reyes area. We loved the quaint, homey cabin. Even tho it was built in 1917 it had all the things you need, heat, hot water, a great soaking tub, fireplace, kitchen, beds were very comfortabe and all the charm you could want. The weather was beautiful and we spent much time on the spacious porch enjoying the garden and scenery . I throughly enjoyed our time. Thank you.

We had a great stay last weekend! The cabin and gardens are beautiful. It is also very clean well furnished to make you right at home.
We enjoyed watching quail and the raccoon during our breakfasts. We also liked that it is centrally located for activities around Point Reyes.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights/5 days during the July 4th holiday. We were sold on this property due to its incredible charm, ease of communication with the owner and we were able to bring our dog. The second we arrived we were transported to an amazing sleepy town where every sun-bleached house is as amazing as the next. The cabin is exactly what we wanted, and as advertised; cozy, clean and peaceful. Mark was such a gracious owner and very understanding in regards to our boisterous little pup.
We would come back in a heartbeat and visit Inverness and stay here. Strike that, we WILL be returning.
Just note this is not close to much so be prepared to relax and enjoy the surroundings!

“This was a great cabin!”
We had a great time here. We wanted to get away for some quiet time for a few days and we are so glad that we were able to rent this cabin on such short notice. The owner, Mark, was great about getting right back to us and we had no problem reserving the cabin on a one day notice. It was clean and quaint and garden is beautiful. The only thing we missed was a TV … Actually, the only thing our 9 year old son missed was a TV. The front porch rocking chairs were perfect for watching the night sky and drinking coco, we sat out there for hours. It’s amazing how many more stars you can see from there rather than in the city. We rent vacation homes regularly, about 7 or 8 times a year, and we can honestly say we enjoyed our selves here. It’s an old cabin and it has it’s quirks, but we appreciate that. You give up some modern comforts in old homes, so it’s not like staying in a hotel or even in a modern home … But that’s exactly what we find charming. The cabin is just as cute as it looks in the pictures, it’s obviously well cared for. The food in the area is wonderful. But be sure to eat before closing time because businesses around here seem to roll up shop early, we did visit mid week so maybe that has something to do with it. The area was perfect for a slow paced, relaxing few days. We would definately come back if we needed to de-stress for a little bit.
