Unconventional, colorful, and rustic, Rainbows and Dragons Hike Inn is made up of two unique multi-level dwellings nestled into a lush hillside garden created by the owner, a longtime Big Sur artist/carpenter/gardener/resident.

The houses (Rainbow House and Dragon house) are designed to be places where guests can truly experience the Big Sur lifestyle without commercial gloss. The surrounding environment is totally natural: spring water, ocean and sage-scented air, and amazing views above the redwood canopy filled with hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies.

The property is reached via a steep zizag trail through the redwoods, so bring good hiking shoes and be prepared to carry your personal supplies. The Dragon House is a 4-level dwelling with one bedroom, located just above the living room and kitchen. There is an additional bed available on the rooftop, which also serves as a deck. A private outdoor shower, tub, and toilet are provided. The Rainbow house is 3-levels and has 2 bedrooms, indoor bathroom with bath tub and toilet (no shower). The roof top room, which also serves as a sundeck, has a double bed for additional guests.

Amenities are simple and include variable bedding options, towels, cookware, utensils, and dishware. Each house has a kitchen with propane burner and water heater, fridge, and gas or charcoal grill (charcoal provided). For chilly nights, a wood stove (wood provided) or propane heater are available.
