Racquet Club Alexander, Palm Springs, California

This classic Alexander is newly renovated and updated for a modern lifestyle with reverence for Bill Krisel’s original design. We call our style “organic earthy modern” with influence from Charles and Ray Eames California residence, and a Scandinavian-inspired palate of pale neutrals and wood textures.
The kitchen features Heath tile, Terrazzo counter tops, a Breville espresso machine, and mountain views. An infrared gas grill is ready for your poolside BBQ. Enjoy meals from the vintage Cherner dining chairs with walls of glass overlooking the sparkling pool. The open floor plan lounge room provides relaxed viewing of the 46″ LCD TV with HD satellite package.
There’s comfy beds in all three bedrooms with memory foam mattresses, cotton and Marimekko bedding. The master has a king and it’s own bath, the middle bedroom a queen, and the third has two twins both with a shared main bath.
The main bathroom is spa style with Heath tile, Terrazzo floors and custom built cabinetry made to emulate the original design. Refinished concrete floors throughout. If you choose to heat the pool, it will be warmed for your arrival. Free WiFi is provided as well as an iPod dock for your own personal playlist. Come enjoy the historic Racquet Club Estates neighborhood and the classic modernism of Palm Springs.

We had a perfectly wonderful stay at this home. Our friends were visiting from NY and we all felt relaxed and comfortable in the home. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen stocked with cooking supplies. We used the BBQ a couple nights which was extremely user friendly and worked like a charm. We enjoyed the heated pool throughout the day into the night. The owners were great to deal with. Overall, highly recommend.

This was our first stay and already we are planning on visiting again. The house was really nicely furnished. The “earthy modern” look makes it very restful. The area itself was very quiet as well.
We were impressed by how well-stocked and equipped the kitchen was, and loved the mid-century dishes.
Definitely consider the pool heating option, since nights in Palm Springs are quite chilly, so it cools off quickly. We skipped it since it was only two of us, but would definitely do it for our next stay.

We have stayed in other Alexander’s nearby and this is by far the nicest. The furnishings are tasteful, to the period and not over the top like some others. The kitchen actually had some decent equipment unlike most holiday rentals. It seemed more like the owners had just moved out for a few days rather than feeling like “just another renter”. The backyard seemed a little bigger than its neighbors.
We like the Racquet Club area because it gives you the choice of avoiding the downtown crush at busy times.
Even though it was winter and quite chilly the pool was almost like a jacuzzi and certainly got a lot of use. Fun to go to the top of Mt Jacinta by cable car, go sledding in snow and then have cocktails by the pool in the afternoon. (Be warned go early or the wait for the cable car can be hours!) BTW the owner was very easy to deal with.
