Tamarind Cottage, Barbados

Tamarind Cottage is ideally located in the parish of St. James, Barbados on the much coveted, platinum west coast of Barbados. This traditional coral stone cottage magically sits on a private property on the west coast, in an area known locally as “The Garden”. The cottage rests on a low garden bluff, opposite a natural gully with water course and is surrounded by a mahogany, neem, tamarind, and palm trees. With a mere 30 steps from the breath-taking sandy beach and turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea, Tamarind Cottage is, without doubt, one of the loveliest small villas to be found on the island.
You will at once be welcomed along the lush entry path by beautiful fern, flowering trees, and the shade of a huge, old and magnificent fruit-bearing Mango tree. Pick and enjoy limes from the garden for your sunset rum punch. With high vaulted ceilings, open living space, and breezy plantation shutters throughout, the layout is at once tropical and carefree.
Enjoy intimate dining from the spacious, covered veranda amongst beautiful garden scenery, and sandy beach views from the “tree house” feeling created by the shade of the Tamarind tree, hence the cottage’s name.
Two very spacious King bedrooms offering both remote air-conditioning or ceiling fans and private en suites.

Tamarind Cottage is paradise. We’ve had a fabulous time here, relaxing on the porch & the beach, and also venturing out to the East Coast.

Tamarind Cottage is simply the most enchanting holiday destination. Be sure to enjoy the undersea delights of Merlin Bay (to the left) and the culinary delights of the local fish market (to the right). Our visit to Tamarind Cottage will stay in our memories forever.

What an incredible holiday! This was our first time to this beautiful, magical island and it certainly won’t be our last. Tamarind Cottage itself is absolutely stunning-picture postcard views, crystal clear waters and golden sunsets.

We had a wonderful time in this lovely cottage on this beautiful island: the week we were here was just not enough time to see all that we wanted to see. I guess that’s a good reason to return of course. We can hardly wait.

I have visited Tamarind Cottage a number of times and can say, quite simply, it is perhaps the most special place I have ever been. Lovely and spacious cottage for 4 people with the most spectacular beach one could imagine – beautiful sand, water and virtually no one on it. Truly blissful!
