Salt & Sill is Sweden’s first floating hotel. Originally a restaurant, expanded to include a hotel, it drifts alongside the herring island of Kladesholmen, on the far western side of Tjörn island. It is made up of six two-storey buildings on floating pontoons. All the rooms have their own entrance and access to an outdoor seating area. The interior is characterised by modern Scandinavian simplicity with functional furniture and unique detailing. Salt & Sill’s restaurant is well know for its high-quality food sourced from local raw materials.

The wildly original Tree Hotel is made up of six separate tree cabins in the forest: the Mirrorcube, the Bird’s Nest, the Cabin, the Blue Cone, the Ufo and the Room with a View. All are 4 to 6 meters above the ground in pine trees. The resort also boasts a suspended sauna and relaxation room, as well as a ground-level restaurant. The concept is living as close to nature as possible, and the cabins have been designed to be highly eco-friendly. It’s located in the village of Harads, 60km south of the Arctic Circle.
