Where’s My House?

If you’ve ever had trouble finding your house keys as you’re about to unlock your front door, try this conundrum out for size. A house in the middle of a maze. It’s an intriguing idea, but one best not tackled late at night, after a big night out.

Turns out the labyrinth was created from corn in Cordes-sur-Ciel, France, by Isabelle de Beaufort and Bernard Ramus, aka Labyrinthus, in 1999.

De Beautfort and Ramus have been creating giant mazes since 1996 – including Le Labyrinthe de Grimm in Alsace, Le Monde des Plantes Magiciennes in Merville, and Le Labyrinthe de Plage à Puteaux.

Some have been large, some tiny, some permanent, some temporary. They’ve attracted some three million visitors, and given a new lease of life to an ancient tradition. RM
