Train Without A Station

Behold the future of public transportation: trains. And not just any trains. These babies don't even need a station to get you safely from point A to point B. Travelers on this train won't be running through a labyrinth of departure platforms to make their connection; they'll make transfers directly from coach to coach…while the train is moving.

It may sound crazy, but according to London-based designer Paul Priestman of Priestmangoode, "We have to think big. The world is going to a be a very different place in 10 to 20 years time and we have to think of alternative ways of travel." He's entitled his concept for the future of train travel Moving Platforms.

So, ladies and gentlemen, hang onto your hats and children, because here's how Moving Platforms works: travelers use small-scale local trams to hook up with high speed rail lines, which run non-stop to cut down on travel time. The tram pulls up right alongside the train and allows passengers to board or disembark without ever stepping foot off the train or even stopping at all. This, Prisetman says, will eliminate the inefficiency in the current system and get rid of costly super-hub train stations in major cities. Kind of gives a new meaning to the phrase, "Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times."
Moving Platforms is just a concept at present, but check out the video below to hear Priestman speak about his idea.
